Awesome experience. Great quality and service was super friendly
I was excited to have a fish market in the neighborhood but was shocked when I came in and there was NOTHING under $60/lb. I am sure it is fresh and delicious, but at those prices I will go out to an amazing seafood restaurant and have my fish cooked for me....
Fantastic sushi grade quality seafood, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend.
Prices are absolutely unreal. I was shocked when I purchased 12 scallops at $84.99/lb and paid $150 for said scallops when I should have left them on the counter. The crab cakes were also expensive at $17/each but much more market appropriate. The scallops were fair at best and I cook scallops often… quite a disappointing experience. Makes me miss New England that much more.
Incredibly fresh seafood. Great quality. Coming from the New England area, there is an apparent difference between fresh seafood and seafood that has been frozen several times and thawed or left around. This place serves quality curated food. Not sure why people are upset with the prices considering how well kept and managed and again fresh and great quality the seafood is. You get what you pay for and especially when you are so far inland from the shores, this is the best seafood place I have found thus far in Charlotte.
I sent an email inquiring if I should reserve oysters or halibut. Rather than tell me that they don’t take preorders the owner told me they will have plenty and come in Saturday or Sunday. I arrived Sunday 30 min before to find out they sold out the day before. I would have appreciated some honesty about when I should come. The worker didn’t seem to care or apologize for the miscommunication. The prices are ridiculous to come home with fish that stinks.
High quality, sushi grade fish in Charlotte--weve been searching for this since we moved here. Folks, this isn't fish camp territory. But if you're looking for incredibly tender ahi meant to be eaten raw or close to it -- no, not battered and deep fried -- this is heaven.
Best fish ever!
Been a long-time customer of Bill's. Quality is best by a mile compared to anywhere else in CLT - even the high end seafood restaurants imo. You'll see a common thread in any negative reviews - you get what you pay for here! Crab cakes are the best and even pass muster with my friends from MD. Ask for advice, the staff has always been helpful.
Ok so just prepare to get hosed by the prices here. Mentally prepare yourself to spend $80 on a bag of shrimp ? when online the same bag goes for $7.50 per lb....Those prices keep the lights on I guess. I get it. I wish there could be more small business seafood options in CLT.Food quality is obviously high, but overrated for the price tag most definitely.

Catch on Seafood is the only place I would purchase fresh fish!
So I go into this market to purchase some sole fillets. I ask for 2 lbs. It weighs out at 2.27 lbs. I go to checkout and the price comes to, are you ready for this....$181.60 for two pounds of sole. I asked if that was correct and I was told our sole is $80 per lb. I told them they could keep their fish. When I got back home, I checked into the price of sole at several different places and online stores. The average price for US Dover sole is about $15/lb. Holland Dover sole is about $40/b.Needless to say I will never go back to Clean Catch.
Best sashimi
My experience was so so. I purchased multiple items; was never greeted or spoken to. My husband and I were the only ones in there, I complimented the place multiple times, the guy behind seafood counter just stood. As I browsed, he looked at me suspiciously - it was uncomfortable. The person that checked me out was friendly though.
Be careful, you can easily spend $150 here for hardly nothing! They don’t place prices out so you have no idea how much your racking up until you pay or ask. Seafood looks good but not worth the outrageous expense.
