Butter chicken was good . Naan is like a stone. It’s very hard to eat. Better to make it as indian style.

The food was very good, especially the lamb chops and cauliflower appetizer. Drinks were fine. I took aperol spritz, thought it could've been better. Menu was very limited too for dinner.

Great food great service.

I ate here about 3 weeks ago. The lamb chops were delicious. I should have posted sooner so I could give a better review, but I enjoyed my meal. There was an event somewhere else in Charlotte this same night so the restaurant was not full, which I didn’t mind at all. I’d definitely return.

Very good food and service....very loud at lunchtime...

The portions were very small and I’m not a big eater. No vegetables offered with most entrees, only fingerling potatoes and nasty toast. We ordered the Gorgonzola shrimp and shrimp tacos. Service was bad and the air conditioner seemed to be broken. The vibe of the restaurant is great but the food and service were really bad.

First time at Essex Bar and I was pleased. We were seated right away which was a plus for a Saturday evening. The food was very tasty and the waitress made great suggestions. My only issue with this Bar was they didn’t give enough food. I ordered shrimp and grits and it wasn’t much at all. The music was on point. Overall 8/10 and definitely return.

Easily one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had, and it happened during a birthday weekend celebration at Essex in Charlotte. Our waiter had a terrible attitude from the moment we sat down—disengaged, rude, and dismissive. He messed up my drink order, brought out a well-done steak when we specifically asked for rare to medium rare, and then had the nerve to argue about it before walking away muttering under his breath. The manager did apologize, but we were still charged $20 for a drink we didn’t enjoy and sent back along with the rest of the food. For a place that presents itself as upscale, this experience was anything but. Completely unacceptable and we won’t be returning. I suggest finding a better place to dine.

With this being my second visit and it definitely confirmed it's a great spot for a meal! A few colleagues and I decided on Essex Bar & Bistro for lunch. The restaurant wasn't busy at the time of arrival, so we were able to be seated quickly. To say this was my second time, I was impressed with the restaurant's decor and lighting - it creates a really pleasant atmosphere.

We shared delicious appetizers: the hummus, fried artichokes (which were a clear favorite), and the fried cauliflower. The cauliflower, interestingly, had a flavor profile that reminded me of butter chicken, which was a pleasant surprise. For my entrée, I opted for the Mediterranean Chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and catching up colleagues. I would definitely recommend Essex Bar & Bistro if your looking for delicious lunch or dinner option.

It was just a Holiday dinner for a few gal pals. Drinks were yummy and the food was delicious. Thank you De-Nice for the entertaining service!

Looking for a place close to the Spectrum Center for dinner before attending the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Concert, we chose the Essex Bar & Bistro. We were looking for a place that had a decent variety of menu choices that had varied palate interests for our family group and something with a bit of an elegant atmosphere to add to the evenings special feel. Menu options that were enjoyed started with the Burrata Carpaccio and the Mortadella & Arugula Flatbread. Both dishes were beautifully presented and we found the flavors very enjoyable. Finding our starter dishes so tasteful we decided that each of us would order a different entre' so we could enjoy tasting many different dishes. Our choices included; Lamb Chop Lollipops, Churrasco, Grilled Octopus, & Gorgonzola Shrimp. We were not disappointed with the flavors of any of our entre's. All came artistically plated, well prepared to our requests and very entertaining on the palate. The consensus of the group was that we would all order our choices again. The winner of the night was the Lamb Chop Lollipops done medium rare. The seasonings were so pleasing on this dish and the chops melted in your mouth. The only disappointment was the Gorgonzola Shrimp which was a bit lack luster with regard to the size of the shrimp for the price of the dish. They seemed small and short in number for the plate, however, the flavor was spot on. Our waiter, Darren, was very pleasant and attentive to all our requests. A BIG THANKYOU to him for making the evening so enjoyable. We look forward to coming back to Essex Bar & Bistro again to enjoy more of their lovely fare.

We wee put in the back room. Food was good, not great. No ambiance in the back and there was plenty of room in the main dining areas

The food and ambience was great. Our server seemed to want to rush us through saying they were going to get very busy. The customer level seemed to stay constant and didn't get any busier. Also the meal we requested from the menu wasn't available. But all and all the experience was good.

Has the butter chicken. It was good but not as good as I've had previously. Service was very good.

It took over 5 minutes to be acknowledged after we arrived. Our server came fairly quickly and we ordered a round of drinks and food before attending a concert. Twenty minutes later I asked about our drinks and was told “they should be here soon”. I preemptively ordered another drink (it never did come). One of our drinks was a martini-it was served in a highball glass! The food came fairly quickly. The fried cauliflower was inedible.
