JP Lao isn’t a fancy spot, but the food is so comforting and delicious that the ambiance will be the last thing on your mind.

I first tried JP years ago when they were still a food truck, and their papaya salad and Lao sausage quickly became my go-to order. Last year, my partner and I moved back to the area, and you can imagine my excitement when I discovered they had opened a brick-and-mortar location.

Since then, I’ve tried almost everything on their menu, and it’s all been packed with flavor. I’m especially a fan of their Tum (salad) options, while my partner swears by the brisket with sticky rice. It’s also fun to browse the display cases and fridge, you never know what you’ll come across.

My new favorite, though, is their khao peik. It isn’t listed on the main menu, but if you spot it handwritten on a piece of paper (or see their pho available), don’t pass it up. They're served in large bowls when you dine in with sauces to dress it up as much as you'd like, and the perfect dish for colder weather.

Definitely a must if you are in the area. The Laos sausage and sticky rice was incredible. The restaurant was adorable and very clean, and the service was 10/10.

My wife and I love to go on a Sunday afternoon. It is a great alternative for those that want a good meal but not the family drama. Wish they had a spot on Monroe rd I would be there everyday!!

Should've known better when I walked in. Figured I would try Loatian cuisine and hope that if I choose to again, it will be better. Beef short ribs and rice were very bland, and dry. Low quality

I found J.P Lao Kitchen on Google near my office. Came in for a quick bite as I've never had Lao food and wanted to try something new.

I ordered the JP Khao Chee - Lao Sandwich. (Shredded steamed pork, pork fu, shredded BBQ pork, pickle veggies, pate and Lao mayo.)
Although the bread was not fresh, the flavors were delicious.

I also ordered one fried pork egg roll. It was ok.

In addition, I had a Lychee iced fruity tea with Honey Poppin Boba. I'd order it again.

The space was clean and the two young men working the shift were pleasant. I will come to JP Lao Kitchen again to try a hot dish like their noodles or curry.

Authentic Laotian food in a fast food setting. Menu could be confusing but the staff behind the counter was helpful explaining things for us. They also sell a variety of Laotian theme handicrafts.

Don't get your hopes up about the Spicy Chicken Pad Thai. They didn't have all the ingredients to complete the dish & the chicken was very bland.

This was different! I've never had Laotian food so I was pleased to see the options were not too unfamiliar from other Asian dishes I've had before. The chicken on a stick was fried, which was fine, but I expected it to be grilled for some reason. I got one rib too, which was seasoned well and just ok. Sticky rice was ok, served in plastic wrap and the green spicy chili was tasty. The star was the Mango Milk Tea. Definitely will return to get that, and other flavors in the future. Easy on the wallet, too. Pay cash to get a small discount.

Hmong friend that lives 45 minutes outside of Charlotte always brags about the food, so when I visited I had to eat there. Laab, Fried Rice, Laos style red curry and noodles, Laos sausage w/sticky rice were all amazing. I had to try it all, and she laughed she had great left overs for a few days. Took me back to eating at my Laos college friends' houses. Wish I could take the resteraunt home with me to the ATL.
