First of all, the food was great. Will say, wife got quesabirilla and there was no grease and therefore no crispy. But she also said it was too much meat, which to us normal people is a good thing. Carnitas were fantastic, as were the tacos lengua. Green sauce was off the chart. Hope you speak some Spanish because they don't speak English, and they got swamped and we had to wait a long time for everything. I gave it 4 stars because the food is that good. Was very loud with the music and service was slow, but they got everything right. Except the quesabirilla lol. Overall we still prefer azteca.
Food is always hot, fresh and delicious! Try the cheese pupusas, they're my personal favorites.
Been looking for some home made style tamales that aren't stingy with the meat for $2.99 each can't beat it! Definitely recommend it plus the tacos de carnitas a match made in heaven.
We had previously spotted this restaurant and decided to stop by for lunch. We ordered the lunch specials and pupusas, and the food did not disappoint. The meat and rib special was generous with protein and packed with flavor. One minor suggestion would be to add more beans - they were a highlight!
The ambiance is cozy, despite not being fancy. The papel picado added a festive touch, making the atmosphere feel lively and happy.
One area for improvement is cleanliness. We noticed that the staff could be more diligent about picking up after customers. A bit more attention to detail would elevate the overall experience.
Overall, the food was delicious, and we'd definitely return. With a bit of tweaking, this place could be a real gem.
Incredibly terrible and disrespectful service so bad that we did not even get to order our food.
I came into this restaurant with my aunt, brother, and mother. We really only came here because it was one of the only places open in the morning and we were hungry after having had to drop off my cousin at the airport.
My mom saw that they had Gorditas for sale and attempted to order them but all she got was a stern and annoyed answer from the girl at the register saying “those won’t be ready for a while” . I don’t know about you guys but if I am in any sort of rush I don’t go to a sit down and eat restaurant to sit down and eat. I’d just go to a McDonald’s instead. Mom replied back to here with that’s fine we can wait it’s no problem and she’s met with an even more aggressive “theyre gonna take a while”
we aren’t the type to cause a scene whatsoever so we just glossed over it and attempted to order a pound of carne asada for everyone to try and share and we’re met with the exact same annoyed attitude. My mother asked her if she was upset with us for some reason attempting to see if we had for some reason unknowingly offended her. She aggressively told them no but they had just opened and nothing was ready.
We decided to leave and a much better and pleasant experience from another Mexican restaurant attached to a gas station called “las meras tortas.” You guys should check it out the ladies were really nice there.
———————Some suggestions for la Michoacana.—————————
- if you’re going to open at 8 maybe try having some food ready at 8. We did not arrive till around 8:30 so maybe open a little later?
- don’t take out your frustrations on customers because you guys aren’t properly prepared to serve people at the time YOU guys schedule to open
- Maybe find someone more emotionally mature and sociable to run the register because I’ve had better service at 2 am in a Waffle House.

This place is a hidden gem, truly authentic Mexican restaurant in Charlotte with generous portions at prices much lower than other spots in the city. While communication requires Spanish and parking is incredibly tough, these acceptable trade-offs for the exceptional quality and value. Comparable restaurants in Charlotte would easily cost twice as much.

The food is delicious! Wish cilantro, onions, and tortillas were included when you order by the pound. Other than that the food is super yummy!!
