I visited on 06/21/2025 and talked to a person leaving the church.
She said the cafeteria has been closed for at least 2 years.

The food is terrible the chicken was alright as someone stated in another review the yams was not yammin not even sweet . The peach cobbler had the worst after taste. The cornbread ain’t sweet and The Mac & cheese tasted old. The cabbage needed seasoning. The place was clean tho but I drove my food all the way back to winston salem couldn’t bring it back ugh

My food is usually great I get the same thing when I come…. But I’ve learned to Check my food before I leave. Cornbread and Mac and cheese had spoiled milk. I was told the cornbread was made a few days ago and the Mac had a “special sauce” that made it taste that way. Even though I’ve never tasted it spoiled. I’m very disappointed in the accountability that was not taken place. The situation was treated in a very nonchalant manner.

The beef tips over rice was good the yams was good and the cornbread was good the cabbage was great for 17 dollars I would go back

Food was terrible! Overcooked and tasteless.. not to mention overpriced.. Gross and disgusting! I got beef tips with mac and navy beans, it came with week old cornbread..shameful!!!

I purchase the food to give to someone else. I purchased two meals. One of the sides for one meal was yams. I asked for the yams to go in a separate container. The person said, "so the yam juice won't spill over on the other food." Yes. To my surprise when paying they did not charge the meal plate for this dinner.. I was charged individual prices. I was told that when I asked for the yams on the side, I wasn't told that and it's extra for lemonade. Tea or soda comes with the meal dinner. You know you live and learn. They tried to make it right by charging half price for the yams. My first time there. I may go back.

The proportions were small and the food was over priced. I ordered white rice with one turkey leg and collard greens. Again no flavor on the food .. terrible

If I could give a half a star i would! Everything taste like Mac and cheese which was half cooked! No seasoning at all. Not true country cooking.

I'm from Nashville and moved to the Carolinas three years ago. My favorite thing is discovering the "hidden" gems. I enjoy, places to eat and main attractions, in the city. Lauren's is a gem. I was in awe of the moving black and white civil rights images, upon entering the cafeteria. I had the baked turkey wings, yams and cabbage. It was good soul food. There's lots to choose from and I will definitely be back!

Don’t do it!! The yams were not good..the Mac and cheese was not seasoned and the meatloaf was just ok. I wanted to support black owned but this must have been an off day!!
