This was our first time to Mama Ricotta’s and it was a great meal , with great service. We enjoyed the fresh ravioli, penne vodka, bolognese and the chicken Parmesan. Save room for the tiramisu! Portions were large and we all took home leftovers. There is ample parking. Definitely recommend making a reservation.
What can I say, what can I say? Oh, I love that place. The food is outstanding. I am picky when comes to an Italian restaurant in North Carolina. It reminded me of my home in Connecticut. I believe you will like this place, too. I am planning to go there again the next time I am in Charlotte for an appointment.
This was our first visit to Mama Ricotta’s and it was truly a fantastic experience. The staff were superb and their attentiveness was perfect. (Here’s a special shout out to Casey; he was excellent.) The culinary treats coming from the kitchen were exceptional. We had meatballs plus the tomatoes and mozzarella for appetizers. Our entrees were penne ala vodka with chicken parm and lasagna. We topped it off with tiramisu. Please patronize this restaurant; it’s outstanding.
Mamma Ricotta's was a walk-able restaurant in Myers Park/Elizabeth neighborhoods in Charlotte. We were seated on time, via reservations, on a busy Friday. The restaurant was a recommendation found on Trip Advisor and was confirmed in talking to several neighborhood people during our walk there. The wine list was good, though bottles were on the pricey side. Staff was friendly and service was good, but had some lapses. We ordered Short Ribs, Chicken parmigiana, and Alla's Ravioli and all were great. Portions were large. We did have to ask for bread and it was wonderful. Ambiance was active and crowded. They do serve Grappa...which in my book adds appeal! We carried home some Tiramisu and devoured that toothsome morsel later that evening. If we lived in Charlotte, this would become one of our favorites. Great experience & Would recommend.
Excellent meal: chicken with mushrooms in a wonderful sauce. Side of spinach. Got the family meal which the three of us shared.
I'll start with the great service and hospitality. Servings are huge & very easily shareable. I ordered the goat/ricotta cheese appetizer. It was ok, but lacked flavor. If I had known the bread choice, I would have asked for baguette instead of the toast that was served. For entree I had the chicken parmesan sandwich. The chicken was crispy, I liked the red sauce as it was richer than the sauce with the appetizer. Nice side salad along side. Don't want to forget the bread and oil- the rolls were tasty! Obviously a popular place- good value for amount of food received. After getting recommendations from Yelp and a hotel employee, I was looking forward to my meal. Unfortunately, it fell short on flavor.
Awesome expérience with our great server Ben. The pasta was delicious and the appetizer with goat cheese mascarpone cheese and toasted bread was perfect. If you like a bit less noise, the back room was good and they do take réservations.
2 visits in two days consecutively. If first visit wasn't exceptional, I would have tried some place else, being new to the area on business. If my second visit was my first, I likely would have tried somewhere else. The difference is Customer Service.
The best buffalo mozzarella we’ve ever had! Should visit as it made daily!! Service was also excellent and fast during lunch time
My favorite place to go for REAL Italian ice!!

Went with the family for lunch and the food was excellent. The waitstaff is very attentive, and the food comes out quickly. Great place for a date or a special occasion
My son took me back here after we had a great meal here last winter. It was just as great the second time. Service was excellent. Portions are large. The salad with tomato and mozzarella was especially good. The chicken Parmesan is also an excellent choice. I’ll be making another trip back next time I’m in town!
First time back to restaurant in awhile. They renovated and it looks great. Just missing open outdoor eating area. We were seated immediately for lunch. Server came over for drink order. Food and service were excellent. Will definitely will be back sooner then later. Give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.
Two of us had Ravioli and Chicken Marcella. The other person a salad. We came here BEFORE the place was restored and the prices were tolerable. Not no more. Our check amounted to over $80 (for 2) whereas a comparable place we go to in Mint Hill is half that amount, tasts far better and gives more food. Service was poor. Everything, even ice tea refills, took forever - a long time. We are paying the price for recent renovations but they are hardly noticeable. So much money for so little decoration! As to parking, all I can say is good luck. Drive around a half hour waiting for a spot. They should have put in more parking.
We were in town overnight to catch an early flight. This was recommended to us as a great local restaurant that wasn’t a chain. Early dinner was fantastic! The portions were generous and NOT over seasoned. Prices were reasonable for portions and service. Our waitress was great. So often Italian restaurants equate with heavy garlic. Not so here. I had Pollo Carciofi. The polenta was creamy and the chicken and lemon-artichoke sauce were delicate and just right. My husband’s Chicken Parmasan with spaghetti was flavorful without being overpowering in flavor. We definitely recommend this as a local date night or great vacation indulgence.
