More training is needed for the young hostesses! My family of 3 came after church on a Sunday and was added to the wait list but told there was no estimated wait time. We waited about 30 minutes and was told we were next to be seated. Within 5 minutes we saw a table come available but people walking in the door were seated there. After I asked why we were seated, I was told we could be, then told they couldn’t seats there because it was a 2 top. We left after 45 minutes of waiting without eating and will not be returning!

Communication is key! Had we been told we could only be seated at one of the FEW tables that seat more than 2 people, we wouldn’t have even added our name to the waitlist or we could have driven to another location!

The older black lady (hostess) was kind and empathetic towards us and she is the ONLY hope this location has! She needs to train her younger employees and given them a lesson on communication and how to speak to customers!

Have eaten at all 3 locations & Statesville is by far the worse one. It’s 4:46am& I’ve been up for a little over a hour with a stomach ache/bubble guts. The parking lot should have been my sign.🥴 ordered 4 takes out dinners& the sides for all were absolutely trash! Mac& cheese oily af, but dry(like how sway) minimal cheese. Canned green beans. The fries were good & the only thing hot. Fish was 6.5/10. Fried chicken was a 7.5 both room temp though. Not the same menu as the other2 locations. The cashier was very pleasant..Needless to say I’ll stick to the one on Dalton! Good vibes,food and drinks..

It was my first time eating at this restaurant. My sister friend recommended Mr. Charles Chicken & Fish. She had eaten there before and decided to take my church mother and me to eat after church. I was very impressed with the food and the waitress. We received excellent service, and the food was delicious. I will go back again!!

Mr. Charles Chicken & Fish on Statesville Avenue in Charlotte, NC is a great place to satisfy your appetite for southern comfort food as well as a few culinary classics. The location is about 5 minutes outside of uptown Charlotte and easy to get to.

The location is take out only so you'll have to, at least, wait until you get to the car ro dive into your meal. But it's well worth it.

Tried the fish and shrimp combo dinner that came with two sides. For sides, the potato salad and onion rings were both flavorful and served with average portion size. The potato salad was really good and prepared well. The onion rings were nice and crispy.

The fired fish tastrd very fresh, and was cooked perfectly, flavorful and light. The shrimp were good as well. The meal also comes with a few hushpuppies but you'll probably be too full on the other items to eat them. So this classic southern comfort meal will definitely fill you up. They also have fried chicken and the other customers who were there were primarily ordering the various chicken meals. They have burgers too. Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. But if the fish was an indication of how good the rest of the menu is the we should be in for a treat.

The service was fast and friendly. The owner was there. And our experience has shown that when the owners actually work there, the product is top quality.

We definitely recommend that you call ahead if possible because parking is limited.

This establishment gets zeros all the way across. I made reservations on January 26th for my birthday dinner for February 3rd for a party of 8 for 6pm at the uptown location and received an email confirmation January 27th and received 2 reminder text msgs. One during the week and the other the day before my birthday. I specifically put in the comments that I was reserving a table for seating to celebrate my birthday. We get there 10 mins to 6 and wasn't seated until about 6:15 and it was a seating for 6. I told the waitress my reservation was for 8 she says the seating for 6 was all they had available. I advised I made my reservation for 8 and received confirmation if the space wasn't available I should not have received confirmation. I ask to speak with the manager and told him today is my birthday I reserved a table for 8 people not 6. There was no apology no happy birthday and he went on to say we don't do reservations for Saturdays. I told him then I shouldn't have received a confirmation not once, twice but 3x. I showed him the emails and text msgs and still no apology. Then had the audacity to tell me that I slipped through the cracks never should have gotten the confirmation and the only reason he was going to TRY to accommodate me was because I had the confirmations. At that time my family and I decided to leave and go elsewhere where there's better customer service. This place was recommended by my cousin. I will never ever go there ever again. Customer service is bad. There's no structure or organization. It's very unorganized and the crowd is very unwelcoming.I don't beg businesses to take my money. Don't plan a birthday dinner with them because you will be very disappointed on your special day...

I’m so sad to see this place is closed. They by far have some of the best fried & soul food in NC/SC hands down… I just drove here from ATL today just to find out they aren’t open anymore! So sad… The mac & cheese was out of this world.
