Poppycox Nashville Hot Chicken

First time visiting Optimist Hall, and it did not disappoint! My friends and I checked out a few spots, including PoppyCox, where the tenders were incredible. The service was friendly, and the whole venue has such a fun, unique vibe. We’re planning another trip to Charlotte in a couple of weeks and will definitely be stopping by again.

Super weird experience just now. Waited at the pickup counter for about 7 minutes and watched another customer who came after me get helped first while I wasn’t acknowledged. As a Black customer and regardless of race as a REGULAR customer, that didn’t feel right at all! Crazy thing, we both had pickup orders!

Honestly just delicious chicken. The sandwich is a bit too thick for my taste (a personal skill issue), but I got the crazy daddy fries and they were phenomenal. Really tasty sauce and cole slaw! I get the slaw on the side so I can reheat more easily 🧠

Food is great but wish I could order online instead of having to go in and wait in optimist hall.

Every single time I order Poppycox, I swear I’m going to take a photo—and every single time, the food disappears before I can even open my camera. The service is flawless. The food is dangerously good. The fries are so crispy they should be illegal, and the chicken tendies are my emotional support meal. Be warned: the “mild” has a real kick, but it’s the kind you gladly suffer for. And the Crazi Daddy Fries? I cried. Actual tears. No regrets. No notes. Just perfection.

I thought this place would hit but the chicken is incredibly sweet . it really messes up the flavor of the heat not to mention it’s extremely greasy. the fried pickles were the best part. Honestly I’d rather eat at Dave’s Hot chicken.

We only got fries for a little side dish from there but wow the food was incredible. The fries are seasoned and so tasty plus their sauces, absolutely incredible. On top of the food there the service was so good, it was a little busy since the time we went im assuming is peak time but the front of the house was so sweet, kind and warm, it was really good.

I was sad when I learned that Boxcar Betty was no longer at Optimist Hall and was replaced with Poppycox's but fam...this place did not disappoint. The sandwich was phenomenal, the service...immaculate. From beginning to end, the experience was outstanding. Poppycox has become my new favorite food and chicken spot at Optimist Hall, replacing Bao and broth. Its worth the price and the 5 stars.
