I have been here many times for dinner and/or drinks and have always had an excellent experience. I came for brunch with my girlfriend and we were both shocked by how bad the food was. I ordered medium rare steak with over easy eggs and hash browns. Every thing on the plate was overcooked. The steak was totally well done and the egg yolks were completely solid. The hash browns were burnt and charred. My girlfriend got pancakes that were criminally overcooked and dry. They had a very distinct bitter/alkaline taste and would have been totally inedible if not for the caramel sauce. Her hash browns were also burnt. Ironically, the only thing that wasn't overcooked was the bacon, which is also the only thing that wouldn't have been ruined even if it was overcooked. The drinks we had were fantastic and the service was solid, but it was an extremely disappointing way to spend $170. I left feedback directly to the restaurant but they never acknowledged it, so maybe they'll notice this.
Kiki and Tyler at Puerta are absolute gems! I had the best fresh, simple margarita of my life—perfectly balanced, clean, and not too sweet. They not only made it flawlessly but even walked me through exactly how to recreate it at home (which I absolutely will). On top of that, lunch was incredible—fresh, flavorful, and left me feeling great. The service was warm, the vibes were spot on, and I’ll be back ASAP. Highly recommend asking for Kiki and Tyler if you want an exceptional experience!
Good service and I did enjoy my meal - however I would say that it’s overpriced.
28 dollars for a chicken enchilada with avocado and 28 dollars for a half chicken mole is pretty excessive.
Also, the empanadas being at 14 dollars is really high - they are pretty small.
I did enjoy the food so it will get 4 stars, but I don’t think I would come back here because I don’t think the food was worth the cost.
Went here for the first time to celebrate my birthday on Wednesday and had an amazing experience! Chase is an excellent server who deserves a pay increase and promotion. I will becoming back again next month to bring out of town guests. Excellent food and cocktails.
Next best mezcal cocktails after Limantour in Mexico City! Spicy guacamole, all ceviche's all tacos are absolutely delicious. My go to Mexican restaurant in Charlotte.
Great food, the best selection of agave spirits one can muster in NC, tasty cocktails and a cool vibe. What more could one want?
Great food, nice location. The bathrooms were a nice touch.
This place was extremely nice. I went with my brother after a long day of work. Was able to order food before the kitchen closed. The service was amazing, the food was outstanding. Definitely want to come back to try more food and drinks.

Visited Puerta recently and had an incredible experience! The food was absolutely amazing. I tried the churro pancakes and the chorizo bowl, both of which were delicious and exceeded my expectations. The flavors were rich, and everything was prepared to perfection.
The service was equally impressive. The staff was attentive and friendly, making the dining experience even better. It’s clear they genuinely care about providing a great experience.
I can’t wait to go back and try more items on the menu. Highly recommend Puerta for anyone looking for a fantastic meal with top-notch service!

I've been to Puerta twice now and each time is exceptional. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious! Both of our servers were friendly and insightful with the menu.
At our last visit we were celebrating a friends birthday. They brought over a complimentary glass of bubbly. The waitress took notice that I ordered an N/A drink and brought over sparkling water in a glass. Those kind of thoughtful touches go a long way!

First time trying Puerta and ordered several items through uber eats. Upon arrival I noticed my dessert was missing. Reached out to the restaurant only to be told that the dessert I ordered was no longer on the menu and this is why it wasn’t included… stuck without a dessert as most restaurants are closed by the time my food arrived. Would’ve wished I was contacted or a substitute was given with my order. Not a good first experience.

Wonderful customer service after review. Manager was very responsive. Food is still delicious. Hopefully a bit more support for service is in the works.
I want to start of by saying our server Chase( I think that's what his name was) is polite and tried hard to deal with the tables he had. We saw his efforts.
My 3 stars comes more so with the front girls who DID NOT tell me I would be charged a hefty $25 to store my cake in the fridge. Or the fact that absolutely no one helped chase to move umbrellas around in order for my table of 7 to have more that one miserable umbrella that only shades 2 people. While tables at the opposite end with only 2-4 people has up to 3 umbrellas for that one table. The people who arranged that need a bit more common sense when setting up tables and umbrellas. Better yet the company itself needs to invest in more shade and rain covering for patio seating.
Our food took for ever to come out. Not to mention it took a while for our server to get to us often because he seemed so slammed with minimal help from a manager or support staff.
Food was great although I don't recommend the tacos. Tacos are a street food and should remain as street food not upscale dining food.
I do think they need to broaden their menu. I am disappointed they do not have an actual Mexican chef but it's refreshing to taste the authenticity of the dishes flavors. Dishes it's self might not be authentic but the flavors are there.
Back to the cake. I mentioned the cake situation and absolutely no did anything about it. The fact that I wasn't warned about a fee ...they should have taken it off. We waited form out CC to come back for 30 mins... By the time our receipts came back we saw absolutely no one. They didn't offer to remove the fee. If I knew about it I would have never brought my cake.
I could understand a cork fee for wine since they sell wine...but they don't sell cake there... It's not something offered so why charge me...
I probably will never go back. I still prefer to support local Latin own business and nickel and filing your customers just isn't my thing. I could understand $5 cake fee but no...this was $25
