The Rice Wagon Cherokee is a hidden gem with excellent food, super friendly staff, and a spotless inspection score of 100. The food is fresh, with great flavor and decent prices. Specific meals include the Big Kanaka, garlic chicken, and hurricane chicken, which is so delicious one reviewer joked there might be crack in the sauce. The shoyu chicken is super tender and flavorful, while the kalua pork and spicy hawaiin pineapple popcorn chicken on a combo plate are an utter delight. The yellowfin ahi tuna plate is also highly recommended. The rice is a little softer than some prefer, and the mac and cheese is different but tasty. It’s a small place with indoor and outdoor seating, including a super cozy back patio. Service is quick and friendly. This is one of the top restaurants in Cherokee, and it is on the way to Mingo Falls.
