This place is phenomenal! Quality food, fantastic crafted cocktails, and a wonderful atmosphere. Try the maple-orange martini! Family-owned, and the owner checks in with as many guests as he can and makes you feel like family. We are new to the area and couldn’t feel more welcomed. This will definitely become a regular spot for us.

Great steak restaurant with a salad bar and lots of other choices. I ate lunch this time and food was prompt and well presented. Wait to be seated was negligible but they were pretty busy. Nice atmosphere but not upscale or fancy. One of our go-to local restaurants for a good meal.

Ordered the “special” appetizer which was Calamari. It was not fresh and tasted like it came premade. Also ordered the “special” Ribeye with creamy bourbon sauce. The sauce was horrible. So disappointed that we ordered the ribeye with sauce. Otherwise I think the meat would have been really good. The sweet potato fries were overdone. The Texas toast looked like toasted wonder bread. I will not be going back.

We always have a great meal at Clayton Steakhouse. The food is always great and so is the service. We love going for lunch for the burgers and salad bar and for dinner for the ribeye and salad bar.

We went last night for my birthday! Had a 7:00 reservation and arrived at 6:30 the host went ahead and seated us which was great. The waitress came over took our order and said we could go ahead to the salad bar. When we went the lettuce was swimming in water and the toppings were all scattered together in different containers. Then we sat down only had one set of silverware I asked the waitress for some silverware she said there is one right there I said I know but there are two of us. When my steak arrived right at 50mins later it was tough as shoe leather. The waitress asked how was everything I told her the steak was tough she said glad you like It and walked off. I would have been better off to had went to Outback!! Clayton it time for a change. Get it together or close up.

We treated an Alabama family member to dinner on the first evening here in NC. Three of us dined on two NY strip steaks and one ribeye. All three of us had the same experience of stringiness and gristle, and bland flavor. My steak was swapped with my relative’s steak, and we didn’t know until we each took a bite…the server noticed the difference as she passed by and offered to have two additional steaks prepared. That was nice of her, though we declined. We just switched steaks. Our potatoes were fine and the salad bar was very good. We will not return though; for the cost per plate, we would’ve liked flavorful, tender steak.?

Our usual Mannings is closed on Tuesdays so we decided to give this place a try. Even though we arrived for lunch we asked and were able to order off the dinner menu since we wanted steak. Yumm! I got a filet with the “extra” loaded potato (mushroom, cheese sauce, broccoli & scallion). He got a ribeye, both were cooked perfectly. For dessert we had the chocolate chess pie with ice cream. We enjoyed the salad bar and the service was top notch. We will definitely be back especially to try more desserts!!

I had the salad bar & loaded baked potato. Salad bar was clean, had a moderate selection, and tasted great! My potato was extremely overcooked , but it wasn't hot.
My son had a steak that, in his words,
was "inedible and tasted like a thick piece of rubbery liver."
My daughter in law had a different cut of steak, and hers was delicious. It was very juicy & tender.
I don't recall our server's name, but she was very friendly and attentive. My 8 year old granddaughter said that she had the "prettiest smile ever" ;)

The food is always top notch but we will only dine here if we can sit with Celine or Amanda… they always make our experience great! Made the mistake of going once when they weren’t there & the service was not so great. It matters when the staff seems to care about your experience!
