Like the rest of the entire town, this place has a wonderful atmosphere. Definitely recommend stopping by. Great service, fantastic staff, and overall an excellent experience.
This place was awful. It's very kitschy but not in a good way, like someone picked out a bunch of random stuff from the ReStore and threw it on the walls. The food was bad, I had the Reuben. I took my first bite and the entirety of the rubbery corned beef came out of the sandwich. And then there was the brown mustard that permeated through what should have been the thousand island, it was unpleasantly unexpected. The fries were cold and the service was below mediocre, no one seemed very friendly. I had higher expectations for this place as it sits on the Main Street of Davidson. Oh well, there are other places to eat that aren't the soda shop.

I grew up in Davidson in the 70's and 80's.... I've been coming here since I was a kid. I have since moved away, but every time I visit, the Soda Shop is a must... Unfortunately the last few years the food and atmosphere has lost some of its nostalgic flavors. The Big "O" tasted more like orange concentrate instead of fresh OJ. Prices have gone up but quality has gone down. There was barely any egg salad on my egg salad sandwich. It's still a cute place to eat, but not the same.....

This place has a great aesthetic. Upon entering, you are greeted by retro. The bill's banana split caught my eye. When it arrived, the spoons were kind of greasy because of the bananas, so my fingers were all sticky at the end.I did think that there would be different flavors, but it consisted of just vanilla. The cutlery that they provided was unfortunate. If it had been other than plastic, the presentation would have taken a big step ahead. We also ordered the veggie burrito, and it was hot and delicious. The way it was presented was fantastic. Keep in mind that THEY CHARGE EXTRA IF YOU PAY WITH CREDITCARD. They hadn't informed about this beforehand, which was disappointing. Make sure you carry some cash.

The food was sub par and the service was worse. If you have all day and don't enjoy good food then this is the spot for you.
The atmosphere is great, The breakfast menu explains mostly everything with little confusion and lists prices. The food quality was good with great taste. The waitress attended to us periodically and made sure we were happy. The waitress appeared to be upbeat and didn't hate her job like many restaurant workers do right now. Plenty of open space and room with tables. Ordered food and was at our table in about 5 to 10 minutes. Total time at the restaurant was maybe 30 minutes. Will return if in the area again.

Have loved this place for decades!! Adore the vintage vibe with the old wooden booths, checkerboard tile floor, and steel counter stools. The menu is vintage, too, with classics like an Orange Creamsicle Float and a Brown Cow. Amazing menu also offers great choices for vegetarians ~ love the veggie burger!
