As a Chef it is difficult to enjoy going out to eat sometimes, knowing that you could just do it at home the way you like it for cheaper. This is hands down not the case here. Alex is crushing it with these burgers. Can’t wait to eat my way to a new size of pants. Seriously can’t wait to come back.

Like many, I was saddened to see Wimpy’s close and fairly skeptical about Blake’s being any sort of replacement. Honestly, outside of some subtle changes, like curly fries, it really is the same great place. The burger is amazing. I really can’t tell a difference. Dogs are still great too. Have not been in for breakfast. They have added a bit of outdoor seating. Remember your cash!

Just left ordered 2 bacon cheesburgers and 1 cheeseburger got 3 cheesburgers no bacon but charged for bacon. The food is good but too far to get a wrong order.
Blake, the new owner is very friendly. But watch out, he will overcharge you. He adds everything in his head and it’s often wrong. When asked how much an egg and cheese biscuit was since it’s not on the menu, there was quite a long pause before he said it was $4.00 which is the same price as a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit. When I questioned that, he said it was $3.00 but in the final adding, I was charged an extra dollar. He reminds me of the old school concession stand worker adding everything in his head and overcharging. The biscuits are large but not very good. The burgers are very small in comparison to Wimpy’s and not as good. The desserts are great...possibly the best cobbler I’ve ever had. But I won’t go back again and that makes me sad because I loved Wimpy’s. And make sure you’re adding up your order along with him because he could be adding a dollar or two to many orders. I’ve been twice and it happened both times. The other time, I was charged $8.00 for two desserts. The second and last time I will ever go, he said desserts are $2.75. I don’t have time to argue over a few dollars and also hold the line up. He lost me as a customer. I seldom write reviews but this one was necessary.

Straight up, the best burger I've ever had. I had the pleasure of meeting Blake behind the counter today. I ordered a cheeseburger with my favorite toppings and a side of curly fries. $7.50 was the cost of arguably best lunch I have had in years. Friends encouraged me to go here because it was the home of wimpy's. A renowned landmark of Durham. Turns out, Blake hired the cook who made Wimpy's famous. This was probably the best dining experience I have had in years despite the fact it is take out. If you are trying to figure out lunch in Durham, stop what you are doing and go to Blake's grill. Best. Burger. Ever

Same base menu as Wimpy’s with the addition of hot dog variety! You can tell Blake isn’t quite as seasoned as the previous owners, but give it time. You can tell there is passion behind the business and the prices are great!

My first visit and I was disappointed!! My hot dog barely had chilli on it...it was suppose to be Carolina Style and this is not to mention the other ingredients. My double cheeseburger bun was nicely slightly toasted but the burgers were frozen , not fresh burgers like Wimpy's. I will not be going back unless selection of ingredients are different...I will not recommend!!! I wish them SUCCESS but not by me patronizing!!! Very dissatisfied!!! I tried to call back and talk to the Owner but there was no telephone number listed leaving no other choice but to post this review.
