This soul food spot is yummy!! I've been coming for years and it's ALWAYS consistently good! George is excellent at seasoning without over doing it! Fried chicken, fish, and pork chops are all great! There's a reason he's been open for so many years!

I went to Catering By George on Fayetteville St. In Durham, NC on Thursday 3/29/21 around 5pm. I purchased oxtails and rice. The portion and the size of the oxtails were very small the price was $18 with a drink. I ate about 5 spoon fulls of the oxtails (the mac and cheese was delicious but I could not eat it) about 35 minutes later, I broke out in a sweet. My stomach started to cramp but I had to attend class. Class was over around 8:30. I came home and went straight to bed. Around 10:30 PM, I was awakened by pain and cramping like I have never felt before. I was moaning and bent over. I told my husband I had to go to the ER. I was hurting to bad to even move and get dressed. Around midnight, I just could not take it anymore. My husband had to dress me. I still could not walk. and just feel back on the bed in pain. 6:00 am I was in tears, hubby held me up and walked me to the car. I threw up twice at home and once in the ER. The ER doctor stated that I had Gastroenteritis (food poisoning) We were in the ER from around 6:AM til about 4:00 pm. I called the health department the day after I got out of the ER. They went out that next Thursday and there were no oxtails prepared. The oxtails were just arriving on the delivery truck, frozen. The health inspector asked if I knew of anyone else who got sick eating at George's. I told her no, but I put a post on FB and received a lot of negative testimonies. On 5/7/21, I received my $4,900 hospital bill. I called Mr. George. He refused to give me his last name and the name of his insurance company. He told me to get legal representation. I told him that my insurance company paid 80% of the medical bills and I just wanted him to pay the 20%. He said get legal representation. Someone brought me a plate of ribs, Mac and cheese, and sweet potatoes. Absolutely delicious. It was so good. Everything was amazing
