Piedmont is a good choice for a dinner in Raleigh. Tasty food, nice atmosphere, great service. Seasonal dishes out in the menu.

They had to close on February 22, 2020. The new owners didn't give them a choice. Sad day for Durham.

My wife and I went to the Piedmont for our valentines dinner. I called about a month ahead and made a reservation for the evening. The reservation was confirmed a few days prior. When we arrived, we were seated at a high top for three people instead of the two person tables. The table was extremely wobbly and we were next to a very loud group. After about ten minutes a server from the bar finally came over and offered to take our order. She provided great service but it kind of felt like we were being rushed along. The food was fine but not worth 65 a person. Our expectations were definitely not met. Maybe they assumed that we didn’t have a reservation even though I clearly said we had a reservation when speaking with the hostess. Every other couple was seated at a two person table and they were promptly waited on. We don’t know why we were treated differently. I normally would not complain, in fact I have never taken the time to write a negative review, but we were not impressed and our evening was ruined. This probably is a great restaurant, unfortunately that is not the experience that we had.

Made a reservation for Valentines day on 01/24/2020 ahead of the rush as most restaurants book pretty quickly in the triangle. Was excited to try a local place as I am from Durham and was supremely upset when I received a call from the restaurant today, TWO DAYS FROM THE RESERVATION, letting me know they will only be serving from their set 3 course menu. The reason I even chose this restaurant was for the menu options and the flexibility it afforded as all of the other restaurants in the area who were only offering a set menu disclosed that very important detail directly on open table. (Allegedly this information was on their website, but why would I visit the site if all of the information was on opentable?) The dinner is $65/person and as the reviews are less than stellar I don't want to take my chances wasting my money. I would have told this to them over the phone but when I called no one answered and their voicemail was full..Very inconsiderate of them to call me with such late notice as it is too late to make a reservation somewhere else for the same time.

It was a wonderful experience. The food was amazing and the service was exceptional. We'll absolutely go again and highly recommend this place.

Exceptional restaurant- helpful, professional staff. Well presented seasonal food using local ingredients. Nothing to fault here. Would definitely recommend to a friend!

I'd say it was quite mediocre, sadly. We tried the restaurant for the first time during restaurant week, hoping that the experience would be good enough to put the restaurant on our rotating list. Unfortunately it was not. It started with the first impression. The restaurant was relatively empty, and yet the hostess decided to seat us at the worst possible table, upstairs next to the back corner against the bussing area. We asked to move to a nicer table and with what felt like reluctance she moved us to a slightly better table, but definitely not one of the nicer empty tables. Service was fine. Cocktails were fine. Food was okay, except my dish (pork chops) was like sawdust. I asked to have it redone, as it was obvious. The waitress agreed. However the problem was I got my food as everyone else was finished. It somewhat ruined the experience. The other food was not good enough to recommend. Last complaint was the wine glasses. The have relatively cheap glasses... hard to enjoy a nice wine (expensive $168 on their menu) with cheap wine glasses.

We were looking for a restaurant close to the performing arts center and found that Piedmont Restaurant was only about a half mile away. The restaurant is open and small and can be a bit noisy as we were seated upstairs and there was a large gathering downstairs. That would be the only downside to our dining experience. My mother had the duck breast and I had the pork chop and both were exceptional. Our service flow was timely and not at all rushed or uncomfortably delayed. Our server handled a small miscommunication with the utmost professionalism and just solidified that we will be making future trips from the Kernersville area to Durham to visit with you all again.

The freshest and most flavorful meal. I had a pilsner thst was refreshing. My table had the cauliflower "steak" we fought over it. We also had the lasagna that was fantastic. Glazed carrots and hush puppies were the side. Out server was friendly and quick. This is a great place to eat in Durham.

Though very quiet, my family and I truly enjoyed all the food. The duck was to die for and soup of day turned out to be a must have.

This is one of those rare places where everything was perfect; innovative menu, great execution, right size of portions, timing, very good and friendly service, all at reasonable prices. Can’t wait to get back.

Loved this spot in Durham. I went to high school nearby so eating at this cool spot was fun and nostalgic for me. The restaurant is dark and stylish. We started the meal with drinks at the bar and they had a very sweet bartender that made some great drinks. We were seated right away when our party arrived. Our server was very attentive and courteous. We started with the duck wraps and they were tasty, although I'm not a huge fan of duck. For my entree I ordered the chicken with butternut squash puree and ricotta gnocchi. I also ordered a side of roasted Brussels with bacon. I cook Brussels almost weekly at home and these were to DIE for!!! The chicken was incredible too, I loved every bite. The gnocchi with it paired perfectly. I wish I had ordered a dry white wine to eat with it because I think that would have really knocked it out of the park (like the Durham bulls) with flavor. ;) The only slightly negative is that it took a long time to get our food. My side came out long before my entree - so I ended up eating it like an appetizer. That ended up being totally fine because it worked as one and I was hungry. The dishes are definitely worth the wait!! They are all prepared to perfection. Great place for a date night or special occasion!
