The Durham Sabor location has the friendliest people. Some of them have been here since the store opened and they are so nice!! Also, when you add a half avocado onto your order for $2.50 (which is the cheapest you might pay for ONLY a few avocado slices at most restaurants), you actually get a half avocado, and it’s always perfectly ripe. I rarely leave reviews without someone asking me to, but this place is worth the praise. The food is always fresh, the staff friendly, and, if you want to stay and eat there, it’s never quiet nor loud; it’s always filled with the buzz of happy conversations in the background. Sabor is one of the few places that is consistent with affordable, fresh food and happy vibes.

Sabor is awesome! Our first visit but had been recommended by friends. Had various empanadas (shredded chicken, ground beef, barbacoa - all very good!) Excellent guacamole, very good chips with a dusting of chili powder. Veggie Gordita was great and they accommodated some modifications easily. Salsa bar is strong, great options including a smoky habanero salsa. Overall good value as well. Great staff, super friendly!

Sabor is one of those places that’s technically fast-casual, but the food tastes like it’s trying to show off (in a good way). It’s bright, loud-in-the-best-way flavor, and it hits that sweet spot where you can grab something quick without feeling like you just ate cafeteria sadness.
I always end up ordering the same two things because I have no self-control and also because they’re that good: the chicken quesadilla and the empanadas. The quesadilla is exactly what you want when you order a quesadilla: hot, cheesy, crisped up just enough, and the chicken actually tastes seasoned instead of “polite.” And the empanadas? Legit addicting. Crispy outside, stuffed and gooey inside, and basically impossible to eat just one without immediately plotting your next bite.
It’s also consistently friendly in there. Like, not fake-friendly. More like “we’re moving fast but we still see you” friendly. That plus the fact that the food comes out hot and satisfying every time is why it stays in the rotation.
If you’re in Durham and you want something that feels fun, filling, and reliably good, Sabor is an easy yes.

I got the sabor salad with vegan chorizo and it did not disappoint. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The salsa bar is phenomenal. Everyone was super friendly and the restaurant is very clean and well taken care of. 10/10 must try.
