The small plates were great. Nicely portioned. Food was well seasoned. Our server did a nice job, timing the delivery of our cou4ses so as not to stack us up, nor to have large time gaps between the courses. Definitely recommend Taberna and know that we will be returning too.
My husband and I dined at Taberna Tapas before attending a show at the Carolina Theater last night. It was crowded because everyone else going to the show had the same idea. The food was superb as always. We did not have to wait long to receive our food. The noise level was high because of the table next to us and the crowd. Our server was attentive and the food was hot and freshly prepared when brought to our table. I recommend Taberna Tapas!
This is one of our favorite places to dine! We tried 3 new dishes and enjoyed them all! Beatriz is the best server.
Took my daughter and a friend who are interning at Duke for dinner. Service was excellent and the server was very nice. Top two items had to be octopus and bacon wrapped dates, but everything was good.
Is sad to see an amazing restaurant go down so bad. The food was ok: the tortilla española was so dry, the jamon croquetas had zero pieces of ham inside, all were ok to eat… but the san jacobo…. What a terrible dish; it was so bad.
The one thing that saved the night was our server Beatriz; she went above and beyond with us. Her service was impeccable!!
Beatriz was who saved our night. The food was ok, the san jacobo was so so bad, we had to return it; not even close to what a san jacobo is and that chicken tasted so bad. Very disappointed on how the quality of the food was; but our server seriously saved the night
Everything we orders was good! The aperol spritz and the red wine sangria were also very good. bacon wrapped dates are a popular item and for good reason, the perfect sweet-salty-smoky bite.
Review: Taberna Tapas Taberna Tapas was the perfect spot for a pre-show dinner. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed, setting the tone for a great evening. Service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and well-timed. The food truly stood out, with every dish packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The highlight was definitely the octopus—tender, buttery, and perfectly seasoned. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable meal before a night out.
Taberna Tapas was a delightful date night dinner venue! The food, service, and ambiance were awesome.
Wonderful night. Their arugula salad was crisp and the ham and cheese amazing. We also loved their chicken empanada. We will return. We enjoyed it much more than Mateo Tapas.

The service was lovely and our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the Durham area.
Food is good and delicious. But the amount is pretty small. It’s really tapas and you shouldn’t expect to be full. It’s like a snack level dish. If you really want to full up here, the minimum per person will goes to 100+. I went to McDonald’s after having this dinner with my friend. And it’s also rare in North Carolina the tip minimum is 20%. In that moment I thought I was in New York or San Francisco.
Wonderful food. We love tapas style eating. The restaurant itself was lovely. They seemed to rush a little bit. We would’ve gotten more drinks and possibly food had everything not all came at once.
Wonderful time! Everyone from my 5yo daughter to my 82yo mother had a great dinner. Calamari are some of the best around, and don't miss the bacon wrapped dates. The txuleton is definitely an experience to be shared.
Went there for our anniversary and the service was fantastic. The food was very good and served how we requested. The cheese plate was a little pedestrian but all of other plates were excellent
