The property management promised to refund my points because I chose not to stay at their location & cancelled my reservation. They then claimed they knew nothing about me or my situation. I've escalated the issue and have spoken and emailed with many Marriott personnel. I will be diligent in leaving negative reviews until the issue is resolved. This is not how customers should be treated.

So far so bad. Check in time 3:00. Did not get intoOur room until 4:00. Room seems ok but hate starting out our stay with such a disappointing experience We were told premiere guests can check out whenever they want despite the posted 12:00 checkoutHence the reason our room wasn't readyWe should have read the reviews before we bookedWe are loyal customers of Marriott Bonvoy so we didn't even think to check review

I am a Gold Elite Marriott traveler and I have never stayed at a worse, more depressing property. It started with check in from a person who was completely overwhelmed by her job. We were the only ones checking in at night. We got locked out of one room with our luggage in the room! They could not fix the key to work...the battery died on the door? They had to call someone to come in...trying to open the door with a wire underneath which is what they ended up doing after several attempts. Our fans wouldn't turn off in the room. Loud. Dingy rooms. Terrible service. The next morning at the Starbucks bar the worker said "I'm the shuttle driver, so can you keep your order simple?" The person who checked us in was so overwhelmed and should not be working in that job. I reached out to the manager and left a message but haven't heard back. I would NEVER EVER recommend anyone stay here. Depressing. Run down. No service.

I recently stayed here and I must say I was somewhat disappointed with my experience. Doors closed extremely hard, resulting in lots of noise in the rooms. On multiple mornings, we witnessed the staff abruptly cutting off service to a line of guests at the breakfast/coffee bar, which was frustrating and left people without breakfast. Additionally, despite the hot weather in early June, the pool remained closed, which was a letdown as we had hoped to enjoy some relaxation and refreshment. Another aspect that fell short was the housekeeping service. We were informed that there would be no regular housekeeping unless specifically requested, yet the staff entered our room every day until we resorted to putting up a do not disturb sign. This lack of adherence to our preferences was disappointing and intrusive. Furthermore, the air conditioning in our room was loud and clunky, disturbing our sleep throughout the night. On a positive note, the front desk staff was friendly and accommodating, but unfortunately, it couldn't salvage the overall underwhelming experience we had here.

I checked in on May 3rd with no issues. On May 4th, I went to check in for my second reserved room. I was presented with a policy that was not in play the night before. I questioned the inconsistency of the policy, as was my right. The manager comes out (the white male manager) and tells me it's his new policy. I then asked if I gave them my card would my funds for these incidentals be refunded immediately upon my departure...to which he responded by calling the police on me. There were three black employees just standing around, staring at me. I provided the card for them to charge but instead they called the police on a Black Woman in North Carolina. I am from out of state. I am a Silver Elite Bonvoy Marriott member...I have stayed in that not the nicest hotel numerous times over the last two years. I was told that if returned I was treapassing. I have never been so humiliate and Profiled! All because I questioned the policy....and then the sellout Black man decided he could grow his balls back and yell at me because I no longer wanted to listen to anything they said...I just wanted to get my receipt and go, especially with a white police officer standing there telling me that I was trespassing as I was waiting for me credit card. I didn't need to be patient, I needed to get away fromthe threat to my safety. Do Not Patronize this sorry excuse for a Marriott property, especially when you have better choices. Horrible Customer Service, Racist Manager, Weak Employees...all spell elements for disaster!!!

The reason why this review get 5 stars is because of the hotel manager named Kenneth. After arriving at the hotel I expressed to Kenneth the day I've had ( car accident on the country side of Durham and I'm from Hampton Roads..no where close to home). He was very understanding and put me in a nice quite room. Yes , it's an older hotel but my room was super clean. Not planning on coming back to the city anytime soon but was thankful for Kenneth. His kind, positive words made me feel so much better.

Comfortable stay while attending a conference. Room was typical average. The front desk staff was helpful. I forgot to pack my cell phone charger and the gentlemen at the front desk let my borrow a charger. Comfortable bed and overall a great stay.

Do not stay at this hotel if you want patio access and coffee early in the morning. My patio door open one time and then it will not open anymore with my belongings left outside. Coffee is not served till 7 AM. This is not a resort hotel. People are here on business. I’m sure they’ll be some type of a cookie cutter”I’m sorry “ response and I’m sure they will “look into the issue”. Yada yada yada.

Long story short. Never again. There was a mouse p*** on one of my bed! The other bed had black speckles under the covers! Refrigerator is so old it doesn't get cold. Carpet was not vacuumedThe housekeepers made the bed and took trash. They did spay their cleaning products, but didn't wipe to clean. The cleaning products they was dripping down the surface and dried up. So you can see where they sprayed, but didn't wipe. The front desk receptionist tried her best to keep me satisfied but she had to put me in 3 different room's because they were dirty. Definitely not coming back and not worth the price for what is.

A very tired, dingy property. Mold on some of the shower/tub area. Furniture with nicks and cuts. Probably the cheapest in room coffee maker I’ve ever seen. While I don’t break out a “white glove” , there was dark dust built up on the white baseboards in the hallway and stairs. On the plus side the bed was comfortable and you could actually get a latte brewed in the lobby during breakfast hours. The staff was warm and pleasant.

I spent a week at the Courtyard Durham and had a wonderful stay. Everyone was super friendly especially the shuttle driver Vicki. It was meticulously clean and was well furnished and comfortable. Exercise room was well supplied with aerobic machines and free weights. I’ll be in Durham frequently and plan to return to the Courtyard!

I have stayed at two Marriott Courtyards in different cities lately and they were both very dumpy. This location was especially bad. The lobby is fine but the hallways, elevators and rooms are not worthy of Marriott branding. Filthy old carpet and walls, furniture all dented and dinged. No housekeeping service and the front desk has a big, awful looking blue laundry bin and they will hand you extra linens if you ask. This is so down market and low rent. I always used to trust the Courtyard brand as being a consistent quality suitable for what I would call - a not full service but business travel quality hotel. But OMG I will never stay at this location again and am very unlikely to stay at any Courtyard brand again. No offense to the workers who tried their best, but the place is like a cheap motel, not a hotel.

Great last minute stay. Pretty much sums up why we’re Marriott Bonvoy members. Friendly, helpful staff. Great pool. Big enough to throw a ball around and let the kids jump in. Rooms were comfortable and clean although pillows could use an upgrade. Got a few drinks from the bar, bar tender was chatty and friendly. Courtyard was clean with a nice fire pit to sit by. The green areas could use a bit sprucing up which seems to be a theme with our last few Courtyard stats. Overall we loved our stay and this was a solid property all around!
