The owners hate Jews more than they want to feed people with food insecurity.
Had an Amazing experience celebrating my fiancé's birthday. Kate was Awesome. She was very friendly, knowledgeable, and had a great spirit. Food was also Very Very Good. We had the Breakfast Fried Rice. We will be back!

Not sure who is running the kitchen these days at the Durham but they are not living up to the dining room's past reputation. We were guests at the "Friends Giving" Sunday night dinner last night and quite disappointed. It was like dinner at a friend's house when the friends aren't particularly good cooks. Bland. Kind of watery potatoes. Beef was ok but not special. Pumpkin pie was supposed to have candied ginger in the crust - we didn't find any. Bland, bland, bland. Definitely not worth the $75 per head price. The cocktails are not included in the $75 but they were the best part of the meal.

The Oni Rice and French toast were tasty. The service was a little off, but that was because someone called out and our waiter had too many tables.

Not sure what was going on, but there seemed to perhaps be only one server for Saturday brunch. We waited over 45 minutes for our drinks to arrive. We had to flag down the server to order food. Luckily the servers' station was in the middle of the restaurant bc we had to get our own silverware and water refills.
The Brunch food and surroundings were really lovely. But the service was much to be desired. We asked for more time to look at the menu, and then struggled to get anyone's attention for a good 10 minutes. It's really loud at brunch, which didn't bother us. But it's something to keep in mind if you are hard of hearing or you prefer a quieter brunch place. Most likely we won't be back.
This was our first time at The Durham. I'm always apprehensive about eating at hotel restaurants because the food quality is not that good. We decided to ty it out based on the reviews here and are glad we did. When we arrived we were seated right away and drink orders taken. We started off with the grilled Halloumi Cheese, it's a hard and somewhat salty cheese, so it doesn't melt. It came out with some "burnt" grill marks on the cheese, but it seemed to make the cheese taste even better. It came with pita and salsa, a good start to the meal. I ordered the Seared Steelhead Trout, served with potato pancakes and a cucumber tartar-like sauce. The skin was crispy and everything was piping hot/freshly cooked. My wife ordered the Jamaican Jerk Braised Chicken and asked if she could have the local corn "ribs" instead of the sweet potato's. The cob was cut in quarters length wise, spiced with paprika and when cooked, the corn bows up looking like a rib...they were really good. The chicken portion was a boneless breast (juicy and tender) and leg-thigh quarter, all covered with jerk pesto which was just-right spicy for her. We are glad we tried out The Durham and highly recommend you try it too.
During the day it is the perfect place to study or get work done. The espresso martini and chicken bowl was phenomenal.

The food was fine, if not inspired. There were no appetizers available during the brunch menu, so ordered a bunch of toast and preserves for the table. Not the best food I've ever had, but definitely not the worst.

We had oysters on the half shell from Beaufort, NC that were delicate and briny.... So good! My risotto corn and burrata dish was creamy and delicious. My husband had the Vera Luce Heritage pork back rib with blueberry maple glaze which was super tender. He's not a big salad lover but he loved the slaw that came with it. The local corn ribs were delicious albeit a little hard to eat. The service was great and the manager even stopped by to say a few words. Many folks were headed to the roof for the jazz group (which we caught later) but am so glad we had a delicious dinner first.
Excellent choice for brunch. The tall ceilings and large windows make for a fairly quiet and cheerful/bright space, and the mellow, reggae playlist was played at just the right volume. For once, we didn't have to shout to hear each other. The peach bellini and summer sangria we ordered were top notch, as were the entrees - farmer's omelette and the shrimp shakshuka. The addition of the shrimp to the shakshuka was a nice touch. The friendly and attentive service rounded out the experience, as well as the ease of parking across the street in the city parking garage (free on weekends).

We had the Cobb salad, farmers omelet, side of bacon, a Paloma and a Bloody Mary. Very fresh and reasonably priced. Great service. Would go back again.

We spent a lovely afternoon here for the 3rd annual oyster fest! The atmosphere is open and inviting while lax. All food and drinks were well-prepared and nicely timed. A much needed easy Sunday afternoon; we can not wait to be back for future events.

We were there for the tomato themed dinner. The food was exceptional and the price was very reasonable. The service was flawless, friendly, and fun. We really enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back.
