I want to express praise and gratitude to Desmond at the Durham Hotel. I had been calling the rooftop restaurant for a couple of weeks to try and modify a reservation for a birthday party and after five or six attempts, they had not called me back. I eventually called the hotel and Desmond answered and even though it is completely separate and outside of his job responsibilities, he took down all my information and reached out to them on my behalf .

Excellent coffee and pastries in the a.m., and equally good cocktails in the p.m. It's also one of the few places in downtown Durham where you can actually hear conversation at your own table without people having to shout!
This is a surprisingly good coffee stand in an airy comfortable hotel lobby. The staff is knowledgeable and polite, neither snobby or fake friendly, perfect. The espresso is solid with proper crema. Milk drinks are artfully crafted. The lobby has ample seating and space. Prices are fair. Recommended.
