The Velvet Hippo is a vibe in itself! I first went months ago and I haven’t stopped coming back! I love this spot and highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t yet! It’s spacious with an amazing outdoor area overlooking downtown Durham. The decor is incredible and one of a kind which only increases the welcoming yet groovy atmosphere! A beautiful rooftop space with a carefully crafted and creative cocktail list. Firepits on the roof and a cold drink is great way to spend an evening!Also mocktail friendly and extremely friendly staff.

Velvet Hippo is a great rooftop bar in downtown Durham. My friends and I went on a beautiful Saturday night when the sun was setting and the string lights were turned on. We could order at the bar inside or from the outdoor window. They have a great selection of Cocktails and a wide selection of Mocktails/Non-Alcoholic options.
