The food was great and the atmosphere was enjoyable! This place came highly recommended, but unfortunately the service I received felt notably dismissive. I waited almost 20 minutes for a glass of water after politely asking twice, while guests around me were offered refills without prompting. Seemed like the waitress had some sort of frustration. It’s hard not to feel singled out when the difference in treatment is that apparent. I don’t know what the reason was, but it left a bad taste in an otherwise good lunch :(

Save yourself the money and don’t go here

Excellent food! Great service! Reasonable prices! My favorite restaurant in uptown Durham!

My absolute favorite place in Durham. Food is delicious, service is great! When I lived downtown it was a weekly staple, and I still make it a habit to eat. Everything on the menu is delicious and fresh. Perfect to eat in or take to go!

Amazing atmosphere and service. The food is absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh. I had lentil soup and chicken salad. Amazing! Absolutely recommend

For lunch, outdoor dining was extremely noisy with street traffic and dust from construction across an intersection. Soup was good, liver pate, too spicy, grilled cheese was too oily on the bread/toast and the mozzarella was tasteless.

Slamming paninis. Really good food.

My wife and I have been coming here for years. Just had a mutual realization that we've never had a bad meal here. Toast is consistently good because the meals always include quality ingredients. Today, for instance, the broccoli had some kick and the caponata was excellent. Thank you all and hope you keep it up.

This is one of THE BEST spots in Durham for a casual lunch—inside and outside tables, unique and tasty menu, friendly easy service, and dine in/carry out. Unique soups, paninis, salads, and wines—- and vegetarian options!! HIGHLY recommend!!

There is literally nothing better and more delicious than a panini and soup from Toast. It is not overpriced, but overly delicious. I cannot say enough good things about toast. I go there at least 4

By far, one of my favorite lunch spots.
Food reminds me of the little Italian delicatessens in Queens.

Serviced is prompt and fast paced, staff is not there to waste time.

Order the crostini flights, you will not be disappointed
