Excellent service. Good seating and great communication. We chose this restaurant because of the food reviews, however our meal was a little disappointing. The scallop and pork starter was lovely, pork tender and scallops pan seared perfectly. I ordered the lamb rump for mains, it wasn’t fully rested and had been seared to burnt on one side, the problem I think is they are trying to get food out too fast, lamb needs a good 10-15 minutes to rest before plating . The mash and gravy fine but nothing I couldn’t find elsewhere. My husband had the carbonara and found it had a very distinctive herb that overwhelmed the rest of the dish. We had the apple strudel and crème brûlée for dessert. The pastry on the strudel was tough and difficult to eat, it looked and tasted like it had been microwaved! Crème brûlée fine, and a good shortbread biscuit. Overall we were unimpressed

Went for lunch on Tuesday, food average, staff attitude disinterested and surly. Coffee dumped on the table and half filling the saucer, and was barely above luke-warm and the worst I've ever had. Plenty of other places to go next time in Hanmer.

Nothing special just ok pub food , we found the price expensive for what it was, the service could have been better also , not very attentive or friendly

A family group of 5 of us went here for a special event on a weekend, we hadn't booked but they still found us a table. Though out the evening the service was excellent, the food however varied, the garlic bread may as well have just been plain bread and the Moroccan Chicken was just plain chicken as it didn't appear to have any spice we would have associated with Morroco, on the other hand the Pasta Carbonara was delish and the steaks were cook as we asked and very large. The Desserts were great as well. Over all the starter and main servings were generous.

Tried booking in and were told that they didn't take bookings. Arrived at restaurant and discovered reserved signs out on some tables. Had to wait at bar to be seated while another party who arrived behind us were seated. When seated had to ask for knives and forks and menus. Waited for over an hour for food after they were prompted. Addressed concerns when paying and meet with couldn't care less attitude.

Do yourselves a favour and drop in for a great feed. The prices are so worth the food you will recieve. We had an amazing lady be our server and she honestly made our experience just perfect. Sophie was her name. She was so friendly and welcoming. It's been the best customer service we have had while travelling our tow weeks around the South Island.

Friendly service nice wine, nice and warm on a cold night The food average and I couldn’t get my head around paying 18 dollars for garlic bread.

Stopped in for lunch one day. Very friendly and prompt service. The drinks and food was amazing. We enjoyed it so much a couple days later we went for breakfast. Again fast and friendly service, i even dropped my knife and within 30 seconds a staff member was over with a new knife for me. The food and drinks were once again delicious and whenever im back in hanmer ill be back to this place ?

Excellent pint of IPA. On draught. Highly recommended watering hole in this nice wee holiday village. If you’re on a family holiday, but find yourself utterly sick of the sight of them I’d suggest you go straight there whilst pretending you’ve popped out for milk. Jackpot.

Awesome place. We came in after just arriving for a drink and some garlic bread (with epic cheese dipping sauce). Great atmosphere and the girl who greeted us was so friendly (black hair orange dye). She was really accommodating and kids even said how kind she was. Great food and drink selection we even came back a 2nd time for drinks. Amazing outdoor area and kids play ground. Wish it was summer but winter vibes on point too.

Staff were friendly and the coffee was good. We went for a afternoon snack and got the chicken and chips basket. It was really average considering the price. The chips were so salty we couldn’t eat them and the chicken had no crunch. Did mention this to the waitress when we were paying but nothing was offered. The place itself it lovely and has an excellent playground for kids.

This is usually our go to place after the pools. Staff were very friendly and accommodating and drinks were very welcome. Went for breakfast the next day as very few places open. Different Staff but still very good. Food was just what we needed and very good. Highly recommended.

Like all venues in town, it’s a busy spot - especially for dinner on a winter’s evening. Had an enjoyable meal, although not quite memorable. The decor and setup is inviting, however we were a little underwhelmed overall. Perhaps in Summer it’s a better spot with doors, windows and people enjoying the outside areas also. Will be back to see
