“I celebrated my birthday at Taverna Agora, and it was an absolutely amazing experience from beginning to end! The customer service was exceptional. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure everything went smoothly. They even called several times before my reservation to confirm my guest count and seating preference, which showed how much they value preparation and customer satisfaction.

We originally requested a table on their beautiful rooftop, but after one of my guests started getting bitten by mosquitoes, we asked if we could move indoors. The staff didn’t hesitate—they quickly accommodated our request without making us feel like it was an inconvenience.

One of my favorite touches of the evening was that they kept my favorite drink coming all night without me ever having to ask twice. It made me feel truly celebrated and taken care of.

The food, atmosphere, and hospitality made my birthday one to remember. If you’re looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy a great meal with outstanding service, I can’t recommend Taverna Agora enough. “I went here and the food was good. Nothing that will blow your mind, but the food is fresh and is tasty. I got the Meze Platter, which was a nice assortment of different appetizers. The Tzatziki sauce and hummus are very good. Kind of works with anything on your plate. I got the Greek Bowl with chicken kebab. I enjoyed the rice and chicken combo. Still good and the kebab was alright. Lastly I got the Yeero Platter with Lamb. So good. I honestly wished there was a bit more lamb. But it was still good. Just know this is not a sit in restaurant, it’s apart of a food court. But I recommend it to anybody that needs some fast food and wants Greek.“

“Food was good, although temperature was a bit too cold. They were closing in a half hour and didn't have gyro on roller. Gyro was already cut they weren't keeping it hot enough within the steam table.....thus loosing a star. Baklava was good but used to be better. It used to be my favorite baklava anywhere. I believe they used to get it from Chapel Hill if I remember correctly. Been hitting both Hillsborough locations for many years when in Raleigh.“

“We catered three dinners for a group of about 70 and chose this restaurant specifically because part of our group required halal food. Overall, the food was a hit — the salads were generous and delicious, the hummus and tzatziki were enjoyable, and the pita, rice, and cookies were all well portioned. The one area we'd love to see improvement is the protein portions. Every dinner was a bit light on protein for a group our size. After the first night we called to request more and they brought it promptly, which we appreciated — though we were charged for the addition. Before our next delivery, someone did reach out by email to ask if I wanted to increase my order, which was a nice touch. However, the whole order didn't need to be increased — everything else was sufficient — it was really just the protein that needed adjusting, so I didn't respond. Unfortunately the protein portions remained the same for the remaining dinners. On one occasion we also ordered mixed chicken and steak kabobs and received quite a bit more chicken than steak. When I reached out, I was told people generally eat more chicken — but with a mixed order for a large group, we expected a more even balance. The food itself is really good and the staff was responsive. We just hope to see the protein portions better matched to group size in the future.“
