Calypso Mama Caribbean Cafe

The goat curry was dry. It had good flavor but no sauce. The cabbage wasn’t good, it was yellow colored but flavorless. My rice and peas were overcooked. Kind of high for the amount of food I got. The girl at the counter is not friendly and had no personality or customer service skills.

Love this place!! My husband is half Trini and misses the food there. I called and ordered some doubles for him as a Father’s Day gift. Despite only giving them a couple of hours, they were super nice and made some for us to take back to Charlotte. We will definitely go back next time we are in the area. Thank you Calypso Mama Team!!

The food was mid. I ordered jerk chicken and oxtail. The oxtail were fatty. The cabbage was overcooked. The jerk chicken had a good flavor, but had either been sitting (old) or overcooked. Customer service was nonexistent.

I just wish they were open more days of the week. They also sometimes aren’t open on the days it says. Other than that the food and customer service is AMAZING !!

Usually the woman at the front is nice but this time she was pushy, rude and definitely made us wait because she was eating in the back… could see her through the door. The food is also usually good when we come into town and visit but this time we paid a healthy price for bone and fat.. no oxtail meat.. literally just bone and fat on it.. the only good thing was the rice and beans and the Mac & cheese. The cabbage tasted like soap.

I'm a truck driver and I truly wanted something good to eat. I called them up to place my order because they close early. I'm a Trini to de bone ??. The macaroni pie and cabbage was amazing. The shrimp roti was just what my belly wanted. ? I was totally satisfied with everything. Please visit this place. It's a hidden gem. Everything was so tasty.

My 1st time here. They had no fish, no curry goat & no plantains. But they make your food to order; my curry chicken, cabbage & curry potatoes were delicious! The ladies were friendly & efficient. The cook came out to update us on the timeline of our orders. I'll definitely return!

Parking: It's ok but u sometimes have to make ur own spots but it's spacious.

This is simpl based off their food, because the service was on point. But the food is a no for me. I ordered the ordered the Jerk Chicken. Nasty, not tender and definitely was not fall off the bone like it should be. Entirely too sweet with a slight spice to it

My cousins and I walked in to Calypso Mama after a day of hanging out. I don’t feel like we walked in being obnoxious or anything like that. I don’t know what it was we could have done to deserve such rude service from the young lady at the register. I’m don’t consider myself to be a rude customer but as soon as she started with what seemed like an attitude I felt my whole demeanor change to match her energy?. Also, the music was quite loud and we were having a hard time hearing one another, so that was definitely a challenge, but then my sister went to ask a question about the beans ( she didn’t realize the beans were in the rice) and the young lady rudely said something along the lines of “ it’s in the rice that’s why it’s called rice and beans.” My sister just said “ oh, I didn’t know,” and walked away just thrown off by that response. I did watch her pleasantly interact with another customer, just not with us. At some point, she offered us a free cucumber salad sample and I felt just a little bit better (it was delicious by the way, A). She seems really young, and I just hope she improves her attitude towards customers. Anyway, the food was delicious, and I would recommend for sure.
