Dame's Chicken & Waffles

I wanted to give a shout-out to Andre for assisting me with coordinating a Brunch, Learn, & Secure the bag: FAFSA event for my students at The A&T Four Middle College. He was very responsive and ensured that the menu was a perfect fit for my students & families! Kudos to Chris who made sure that the delivery & setup were on point! My parents and students raved about how good the food was. The event was a success and we are thankful for y’all.

First time going and I loved it

I visited Dames during GHOE, and the food was the same as when I was in college, DELICIOUS, with a side of good ol Sweet tea! I was excited to try their food after learning that they now offer vegan options and their options were great. I will be attempting to make their seasonal squash and onions myself. My server was Kim, who did a great job running the bar area.

As a vegan, I look forward to visiting again in the future.

As a family we were looking for soul food on our first time in town. Dame’s filled the bill. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. I had the 4 wings with waffles. The wings were hot and fresh and came out in a timely manner. My waffle was fluffy and delicate the smears were on point.

It was well worth the wait. The awesome jazz collection of music ?? was so on point. The atmosphere was really good and the staff stayed busy while including their customers, giving good customer service. We enjoyed the service, the food, the atmosphere, the music and the price. Thank you Dames, may the blessings of the Lord continue ???

The main drawback of this experience was the wait. It was just a party of 2, myself and my boyfriend, and it was our first time visiting. When we got there we were told it would be a wait of 20-30 minutes (no problem). However, it ended up taking 45 minutes to be seated. Then, once we were sat, it took almost an hour for our food to come out. Truly, it was about 55 minutes of waiting for the food. Yet, they were sending out door dash orders quickly and regularly. The excessive waiting unfortunately really dampened our experience.

That said, the food was very good and I don’t have any complaints there. Still, it’s unlikely we’ll go back in person after our experience.

Today’s visit was very disappointing. We placed our order at 3:20 and never saw our server again until after the long wait at 4:02 - when we received our food. The chicken legs were very dark and were cooked in old grease. Some of our food was no longer available; things that could have been shared by an attentive server. We learned that earlier events in the day had made the restaurant almost close. The impact was certainly felt and made those in our party on their first visit not interested in returning.

OMG! This food was soooooooo good. Best fried chicken I've EVER bought from an establishment! I will add this to my must visit EVERY time list

Came back, excited to try the food again. Online order was canceled so I had to order in the restaurant. Sweet Potato waffle was delicious. Shrimp and grits were watery with THREE pieces of sausage. Prices were also higher in the store than online. Won't be pressed to revisit

I visit Dames especially for the shrimp and grits! The place is incredible, service is great and my wife and I always have a great time!

I was disappointed. I ordered shrimp and grits and the bowl was full of grease. There wasn’t any flavor and I couldn’t even doctor it up with salt and pepper. The manager was very accommodating and the waitress was very nice about it. I’m thinking they also need to change their grease because the chicken was super dark. The shmears were good and so was their lemonades. Maybe I will try again for breakfast or lunch and see if the food is any better.

The food is definitely on point. My friend had the gingerbread waffle with strawberry schmear and three legs. I had the vegetarian waffle and vegetarian chicken. Omg, you will NOT be disappointed with this food. You can tell that the chef’s cared about how they prepared the food. I will certainly return back to this spot to try some of the other soul food options.

Placing a to go order was a nightmare. I was charged then the order was cancelled, waiting for my refund only to be ordered again. The food was very good with exception of the very spicey collards. Way too much red pepper. Elderly customers, please be careful as this can cause choking. Have plenty of water nearby!

Update dined here again. Still I wouldn’t recommend. I’m done! The waitress did her best however the food was slow and even worse the hostess said 15-20m wait and we waited far longer! -40m. The food meh! There were lots of empty tables when we checked in. I’m wondering if they are low on serving staff.

Run! Took forevah! Not attentive service at all. Food was good, not great. Had What a Classy Hen with sub of gingerbread waffle.
Server couldn’t answer what type of lettuce is used in salad. Come on know your menu!
