Dame's Chicken & Waffles

I ate here a few years ago and I really enjoyed my food. But this time was not impressed. My panko chicken was burnt and the chicken was stringy. The cheese grits were a bit watery, I couldn’t eat them. It was gross. The waffle wasn’t bad but pretty expensive for just OK food. Probably won’t eat here again. Rather take my $20 to the grocery store and cook my food at home.

Dame’s Chicken & Waffles absolutely lives up to the hype. The chicken is perfectly seasoned and crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside—comfort food at its finest. But what really blew me away were the vegan waffles. As someone who’s always on the lookout for great plant-based options, I can honestly say these are some of the best vegan waffles I’ve ever had. Fluffy, flavorful, and served with their signature shmears—they don’t cut corners on taste or quality.

The vibe is warm and welcoming, and the service is always friendly and attentive. Whether you're a meat lover or vegan, there’s something on the menu for everyone.

Good food, great customer service, very pleasant atmosphere.

We got the chicken and waffles, and it was delicious 😋! Love the option of create your own where you choose chicken style/amt, the waffle type, the smear and the drizzle. And don't let me forget the mimosa hits as well, as I got the cobbler one and I could drink that all day.

Food was really good. Server was very friendly and had lots of energy.

Was excited to try this spot! Service was amazing, food totally subpar. Chicken arrived cool, not at all warm, waffles were undercooked and sausage and eggs overcooked. Definitely first and last visit for us! Totally disappointing experience.

Tried to place an order on chownow which was preferred by business at 10:05 on Sunday but it stated it didn’t open to noon. Called store and manager stated you have to use DoorDash. Difficult to place order.

I wanted to give a shout-out to Andre for assisting me with coordinating a Brunch, Learn, & Secure the bag: FAFSA event for my students at The A&T Four Middle College. He was very responsive and ensured that the menu was a perfect fit for my students & families! Kudos to Chris who made sure that the delivery & setup were on point! My parents and students raved about how good the food was. The event was a success and we are thankful for y’all.

I visited Dames during GHOE, and the food was the same as when I was in college, DELICIOUS, with a side of good ol Sweet tea! I was excited to try their food after learning that they now offer vegan options and their options were great. I will be attempting to make their seasonal squash and onions myself. My server was Kim, who did a great job running the bar area.

As a vegan, I look forward to visiting again in the future.

As a family we were looking for soul food on our first time in town. Dame’s filled the bill. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. I had the 4 wings with waffles. The wings were hot and fresh and came out in a timely manner. My waffle was fluffy and delicate the smears were on point.

It was well worth the wait. The awesome jazz collection of music ?? was so on point. The atmosphere was really good and the staff stayed busy while including their customers, giving good customer service. We enjoyed the service, the food, the atmosphere, the music and the price. Thank you Dames, may the blessings of the Lord continue ???

The main drawback of this experience was the wait. It was just a party of 2, myself and my boyfriend, and it was our first time visiting. When we got there we were told it would be a wait of 20-30 minutes (no problem). However, it ended up taking 45 minutes to be seated. Then, once we were sat, it took almost an hour for our food to come out. Truly, it was about 55 minutes of waiting for the food. Yet, they were sending out door dash orders quickly and regularly. The excessive waiting unfortunately really dampened our experience.

That said, the food was very good and I don’t have any complaints there. Still, it’s unlikely we’ll go back in person after our experience.
