Stopped here yesterday for lunch and the food was just okay. My Don Tonkatsu had a good flavor but was very haphazardly put together. An attraction of Japanese cuisine is it's neat and orderly presentation which this Don definitely was not. It looked like the sauce was through it a bowl, a dollop of rice added and then the pork (in chunks not slices it seemed) thrown in the bowl, followed by the stirred egg thrown on top. Again the flavor was good but presentation was lacking - after all that's why you go to a Japanese restaurant!

Interesting place it's a Japanese restaurant that doesn't sell sushi in any way shape or form the food I did get was okay it was Hibachi chicken and it was good it's a little hard to have a conversation with the people that you're sitting with cuz it's just a bit loud but it is an interesting place I plan on taking the rest of my family and some friends there again so that they can experience it so it's definitely a place that I would say check it out you know don't be afraid to check it out

Love the Spicy Raman and Stir fry noodles! Gyoza rolls are good as well! Very friendly as well!

The staff is nice and they let us in as soon as they opened. I had the spicy ramen but could tell it was pack ramen from Gmart. How do I know? I've been eating the same pack ramen for years. Hoped for a more authentic feel. It was ok.

My wife and I had our first date here 14 years ago. We love this place! Try and stop by every time we're in town.

Love this place! Owners are super sweet and try to get the food out as fast as possible! Staff members are also attentive to guest and making sure they don't need anything.

We came to UNCG from Atlanta for our son’s college audition and came upon this place. The food was delicious and the owners were so friendly. The cozy atmosphere made the experience even better. If our son ends up going to UNCG, we will definitely be back!??

This is a really neat small place on Tate St. My favorite element is the interior, which is decorated with a soothing Japanese aesthetic. The food is pretty darn good too. This is a great place to grab a hot bowl of chicken and rice with a hot carafe of sake, whether with a date or going George Thorogood, i.e. drinking alone. The space would be a little cramped for large groups. Also internet connectivity is a little spotty in this area, which once caused me to have to pay a parking fine that I feel was an injustice, but that doesn't really have to do with the restaurant. Just be leery should you use the micro-parking garage across the street. I'd definitely recommend this place. I love this area. There's a lot of interesting cuisine packed close together, and all the restaurants have a certain special vibe that comes from being situated at the heart of a public university.

Service was great, food was lacking. Ramen was basically instant ramen with some extra veggies thrown in, definitely not worth the $10 it cost. Will probably return to try the rice bowls as that seems to be the real crowd pleaser.

Our Family Loves Don's! Found this place May of 2022, and have gone back every month since. The service is outstanding, very friendly and respectful. Food is amazing, full of flavor, fresh and hot. Shrimp Hibachi Don, fried chicken wings and spring rolls are my favorite.

On our way from Charlotte to Raleigh, we decided to stop here. I’m a ramen fan and was looking forward to this place. We had edamame and gyoza as appetizers and the Shoyu ramen beef as main. Overall pretty good, simple presentation but nothing mind

I need to give this restaurant an updated review. I come to this restaurant very often now. I fell in love with their hot stone bowls. I usually try their bibimbap in a hot stone bowl. It stays hot the whole time you're eating it. They also have two sauces on the table to give it more flavor. Their fried tempura green tea ice cream is a must as well. It tastes like fried cake batter with green tea ice cream in the middle. The restaurant is small, yes. I did notice the server was sitting everyone in every other table to give each party some privacy and to make it feel more cozy. The servers were very attentive and friendly as always.
