My boyfriend and I came here for breakfast. We’ve eaten at other Jake’s locations and usually enjoyed our meals, but this trip was a disaster. We both ordered waffles, and he asked for chocolate chips in his. When they brought out the food his waffle was just a plain waffle with melted chocolate chips burnt into the top, as if someone had made a waffle, realized they forgot the chips, then threw some on top and pressed it in the waffle iron a second time. They only brought out my side of sausage, so I assumed my waffle would be out soon. We waited and waited, I never got my waffle and no one ever came to check on us. The greeter noticed us trying to flag down a waitress and asked what we needed; I told him I ordered a waffle that hadn’t come yet, and he said he’d tell someone. We watched him walk right back to the front and he didn’t speak to anyone. I never did get my waffle, by the time a waitress finally came it had been 15 minutes and we needed to leave. At the very least they didn’t charge me for the phantom waffle, but we didn’t get an apology or anything.Based on the other reviews it sounds like this place is usually good, so I don’t know why our visit went so badly. I don’t think we’ll be going back. The staff needs to be better-trained, especially the greeter guy who seemed especially checked out.

Food was solid and has been pretty consistent and comes out in a reasonable amount of time, the ambiance in the the restaurant is nice & the interior is very spacious . The service is what really stands out to me, Anna truly made me feel welcome and provided and lovely experience with fantastic conversations! Looking forward to becoming a regular at this location.

Food was good however service was awful. We were there 2 hours for a simple breakfast. Took a while to get coffee. No cream even after we asked for it. We finally got it from another table. Food came out and was incorrect. We were not charged for wrong items. Waited forever for ticket to pay. Love the other Jakes but not this one.

Jakes down town is a great place to eat with a menu that is easy on the pocket book for the food. The wait staff are wonderful, my wife and I have been going there for months now and these awesome ladies actually remember our somewhat complicated order. The food is on par for this type of restaurant.I gave only 3 stars for food because our usual porkchop breakfast has been changed from once thicker bone in porkchops to boneless thin porkchops... they didn't think we noticed...

Basic diner food with great service! One of the few places in town besides Sage Mule, who actually make crispy hash browns if you request them.

I've seen a lot of negative reviews about the service here and not sure why. We just got back from dinner at Jakes and the service could not have been better. Our waitress - Kanayo(?) - was great. Kept checking back, was knowledgeable about the menu, offered to-go drinks. Professional and friendly. All the other waitstaff seemed equally proficient. Orders came out promptly. Food was good. My husband's ribeye sandwich was great. It's cold here tonight and soups were incredibly hot. My burger may not have been the thickest but it was big and loaned with bacon. I would definitely go back ... probably for breakfast tomorrow.

The food is great. They got my husband’s extra crispy bacon right and my omelet is the bomb. Ashlea made sure that we got what we wanted for breakfast. She did is so effortlessly. Appreciate her spirit.

Jake's Dinner downtown was such an unexpected surprise! We were looking for a 1:30 pm late lunch and so many of our favorite brunch restaurants were closing at 2pm. We saw Jake's diner was open and gave it a try. I haven't been to any Jake's location in 10 yrs. We were so impressed by the decor! This location was super hip and updated! Not a diner vibe at all until we got to the menu. It is the classic diner menu with everything from eggs to sandwiches. My friend got the homemade chicken noodle soup and I got the tomato soup to start. The server was incredible! She was not only helpful, but she was fun, funny, and checked on us the perfect amount. She gave her honest opinions when asked about the items on the menu. She said it's all delicious! The price was very affordable! Everything was delicious. I absolutely will be back!

Inexpensive and tasty diner food. Jake's is a chain and this location is new to Greensboro. I think it fills a huge need because the late night bar crowd needs easy access to affordable food nearby. A downside is that the parking is extremely limited and it is paid parking. We went at 2pm on a Saturday and it was pretty dead. Service was quick and friendly. I opted for a breakfast plate with eggs, bacon, a biscuit, and home fries. The home fries were a substitution. They layout substitution surcharges very clearly on the menu. The bacon was good quality and the biscuit was flaky. The cooked my eggs perfectly, but the egg quality seemed pretty average (not farm fresh or particularly tasty). The home fries were nice! Overall, I liked my meal here. Having a Greensboro Jake's location is a welcome addition to the downtown scene in my book!
