The worst of Captain D’s in Greenville,NC. The fountain drink was the best of our meal. Everything tasted like old grease.Mom & I trashed both meals.A waste of money & drive 45 minutes away to get nasty food. Also, it was a child between the age of 3-4 that was behind the counter with a book bag on her back like she was in training.The adult who was employed there was all in the book bag & messing with the child’s hair. I understand no babysitter but child behind register of a restaurant & parent playing with hair was very unprofessional.When the parent should’ve been in the back changing that nasty grease.

Food is good. Had the catfish, Cole slaw and hush puppies. Service is top notch. The cashier with the long hair, was so nice. Very helpful. And patient with an elderly lady that was on the line in front of me. Still tastes the same as a few years ago.

I was a original restaurant manager that was trained in the old Mebane NC location back in the early 90s I still have my original Captain D's certification.They need to bring back the chocolate and carrot cake, country style fish dinner. The original house made tartar sauce recipe is not like it used to be, but if they purchased Ken's tartar sauce that will be an awesome compliment to the seafood choices.

I drove 85 miles to make this my first stop for lunch on a day trip, only to find out that they were out of tartar sauce. The world-class tartar sauce was the #1 reason to go to Captain D's! I couldn't be bothered to try their fish without it. I've since learned that Captain D's tartar sauce may no longer be the world-class product I remember. I've been to this location before, and didn't consider it to be in a bad part of town, but this time, there was no one eating inside, but there were two gentlemen hanging out in the lobby area and a car randomly parked outside - not in a parking space - with the engine running. After a restroom visit, we decided to go elsewhere. That car was there when we arrived and it was there when we left, and there should have been ample time for them to have received even a large order if that's what they were waiting on, so I don't know what may have been going on. It was a bit creepy and I won't be returning.
Prefer LJS, but they left North Carolina a while back. So fish-n-chips can only be found at this chain in NC. That being said, for a reasonable price can get my fix of this fish and fries, staff always good, and polite.
