Joey's Bagels - Fletcher

I don't know what's going on at this location, but I've been there 3 times in the last month and there is always issues. First you can't ever get them to answer the phone anymore. Secondly I know they get busy but the last time I went I waited 23 minutes for a bagel with cream cheese. The time before that I had to ask for less burnt bagel and then today I went and the bathroom was filthy and there was an employee up at the front coughing standing to the side of the register. It used to be run a lot better and I am not sure what's going on, there is always issues.

No acknowledgment by staff after walking in, or standing at the counter. The kid just walks past you several times with his ear buds in listening to music while avoiding eye contact. Staffing is always an issue here, but at the end of the day you hired them. Take the ear buds out and acknowledge your customers. Perhaps tell the customer I'll be with you momentarily. Basic etiquette is lacking here and I'm tired of it.

Asking for a tip here is rather humourous.

Owner understaffs so prepare for a potential wait

First time here, and it was an overall good experience. We stopped in for lunch and got a Philly Cheese steak and an Italian sub with a begal. Everything was pretty good. I did like the Philly more. The Italian doesn't come with mayonnaise so you have to ask. I would definitely recommend checking out this joint. Potatoe salad was better than the pasta side as well.

Wow such a delicious bagel I got today!!

First place that’s ever gotten the request for a “NJ/NY schmear” correct. This is the correct proportions of bagel to cc! So good, and let me pick my toast level. LOVE.

The lox/cream cheese on my bagel was so thin I could barely taste it. There was no lox I could see in the sparse cream cheese. I wrote the owner and he advised me that it would be a learning experience. I loved going there before it was sold. Compare the amount of cream cheese I got to photos they posted.

Excellent bagels in the Asheville area!

I always love coming to Joey's Bagels every single time I'm in this part of town. I'm from NY and these bagels are the real deal! I have been so excited since I found out that a location is coming to AVL, because now I can come weekly instead of bi-yearly. If you want a good bagel, make the stop. It's worth it.

This has been our go to for years. We’ve had consistent issues with new staff being attacking and rude. We also placed a to go order and they hadn’t even started to work on it when we arrived 30 minutes later. Bummed to see the downturn

If I would have known that it would have took 20 minutes to get a asiago bagel with plain cream cheese toasted I never would have stopped on my way to work! It was mildly ridiculous and no one really seemed to care. M it took you two whole minutes to make my order.

Joey's has the best bagels around however, I ordered 4 bagel sandwiches today and it took a full 30 minutes to get them. We were the only people there at that time, it was not busy. They also got one of the bagels wrong and left out all of our sides. So in short, definitely get their bagels but only when you have a lot of time and check your order. Also they don't seem to know how to cut a sandwich.

Joey’s was great when we first started going. Always made my bagel how I liked it and served all the food / drinks on the menu.

Now every time I go to get Joey’s I’m told I can’t get the drink I want because “they’re too backed up” this has happened the past 5 times I’ve went. As for my food I like extra cream cheese on my bagel, which I pay extra for. Of course now my bagel looks plain Jane with no extra cream cheese.

I’ve seen some changes within staff and I wonder if that has something to do with the overall experience at Joey’s now. Went from up beat and friendly to dull and rushed. I hate to say but we won’t be coming back at this point, it’s a waste of money.
