On very busy nights, the service can be off sometimes (which is understandable, everyone can get overwhelmed from time to time). However, the Hickory Wine Shoppe is a nice place to go for a few glasses of wine, wine slushies, or appetizers. It is not a place to go if you are on a tighter budget, definitely a splurge kind of date night.

Great staff and service. Friendly, open, observant, GREAT! Did not eat so no comment on food but what I saw looked tasty. Friday night entertainment. Spoke with one of owners Matthew Mull.. obvious why this is a great spot.Wheelchair accessibility: Tight spacing inside but certainly room for a wheelchair.

Love the Hickory Wine Shoppe! Perfect place for wine..ing down any evening after work!!
A nice find in Hickory! Located in the downtown area, surrounded by local businesses. Worth the effort to drive here from the hotels along the highway. Sophisticated little place. By the glass wine selection was really solid, with good options from around the world and some quirky stuff, too. My Loire Chenin Blanc was lovely. Small menu, but suitable for a light dinner. Olives as a starter were as anticipated, and a flatbread (pizza) hit the spot, which crisp crust and flavorful Gouda. Might suggest a couple of vegetable-forward dishes be added to the menu. Nice atmosphere...large outdoor patio and a pleasant interior with a long bar (good for solo diners) and a few tables. Pleasant service. A great find.

We love heading to HWS before downtown events like music under the Sails. Here is what we love: the intimacy of the space inside, the selection of wines, the fact that you can order beer, the outdoor seating area, the appetizers and delicious flatbreads, the ability to take your wine out and drink it while listening to music, and the staff/service. What we don't like: paying a corking fee if you purchase a bottle under $30. HWS is a fun place to hang out with friends or a date.
