The food was okay, not particularly worth it for the price in our opinion. I read the website policies prior to visiting and should have realized from the policies that the restaurant would feel stiff versus warm.
The most off-putting thing about our visit was regarding the restaurant’s policy for food allergies. I cannot eat dairy. I ordered the NY Strip entree, which was served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I was told the steak and asparagus could be prepared without dairy but the potatoes could not. The waitress told me that they could absolutely remove the potatoes from the dish but they could not substitute as it is against restaurant policy. But we could pay for additional sides. I opted just to remove the potatoes. The steak was served with two stalks of asparagus.
We would not recommend this restaurant to others visiting the area.

We did not have any lunch plans and came here. It was so much better than our dinner at Stubborn Bull. Both of our sandwiches (the crab cake and NY strip steak sandwiches) were delicious. We thought the bar looked cool, so we came here, again, for a drink before our dinner at Stubborn Bull. We should have just stayed here for dinner.

Exceptional Lunch Experience at Prime in Highlands!
Our lunch at Primary in Highlands, NC, was simply outstanding. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the host and restaurant manager, which set the tone for a wonderful meal.
We started with perfectly cooked Oysters Rockefeller, followed by a fresh and flavorful green salad. My husband had the chimichurri marinated chicken sandwich, which was the special of the day, while I opted for the 14-ounce New York strip. Although I couldn’t finish the entire steak, it was perfect for sharing, and it was cooked to absolute perfection.
The service was impeccable, attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere made for a lovely midday meal. We topped off the experience with a delicious slice of carrot cake, which was the perfect sweet ending.
If you’re looking for an exceptional lunch in downtown Highlands, I highly recommend Primary for its fantastic food, atmosphere, and top-notch service

Food was great, atmosphere was great, service was great...the manager got this place a 1 star review. He was the rudest restaurant individual I have ever run accross. Tried to lecture our group on the "restaurant business", needs a lecture himself on hospitality. Visited 8/30
***After talking down to my wife on multiple occasions...yes, you did eventually accommodate our request, thank you. The others (servers/bar tenders) we interacted with were extremely kind and courteous***

This is a wonderful new restaurant. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The truffle fries were exceptional. The salads were excellent and very large. Recommend splitting them. All 4 of us had different steaks. All were cooked perfect and delicious. We would all go back. House Cabernet was exceptional.

We have tracked this restaurant owner/chef from his amazing former restaurant in Colorado to now Highlands, NC- Always an incredible meal, with trained servers (available but not hovering), and beautiful decor and ambience! From the cornbread appetizer, “country fried tenderloin”, to the Prime+ Filet cooked perfectly, you will have a meal to remember and be reminded that consistently excellent service and food is possible! WOW!
