High Cotton Barbeque

We walked into High Cotton on a day with a torrential downpour, the kind of weather where seafood just don’t sound right. You need the inviting warmth of a BBQ joint, so we headed over to high cotton. Now we got there during their last hour of business for the day, and experience has taught me to temper my expectations when you’re there in the waning minutes before close. However, I didn’t need to temper my expectations at all. High cotton is going to be a regular stop for us now when we’re in OBX. The meal we had absolutely blew us away. The pork was absolutely top-tier ENC BBQ: it hit the level of quality where saying one is better than the other is frivolous to me, it’s just all top-tier coz me. The fried chicken was tied for the I’ve ever had, and the brisket was fanatic as well. My daughter said the green beans & Brunswick stew were her favorite she’s had, and my son loved the Mac & cheese. To boot, the service was incredible, the joint was incredibly warm & inviting- you feel like you’re at home as soon as you walk in the door.

Bought a BBQ package to use for Thanksgiving while on vacation. So good.

Best bbq ive ever had in a very clean restaurant. Food was prepared perfectly, you could tell they took pride in it, absolutely hands down best I had on the outer banks in a 12 day stay of anything . My complements!!!!!!

Staff was friendly, but the food was very subpar. It came out immediately after we ordered but nothing was fresh and the meat was cold.

We had a craving for BBQ, and decided to stop by this place to try it out. They have a good variety of offerings, with classics like pulled pork and smoked ribs. We've ordered their platters, and it came out quickly. Although the brisket and ribs were tasty, it was a bit dry to our liking.

Dining area has ample room and seating. Staff was helpful and friendly. Portions were generous. Pricing was fair compared with others in the area. A good place to enjoy Carolina BBQ.

Wow!! 🤩 This restaurant is out of bounds!! My spouse and I both had the beef brisket dinner. The slow-smoked brisket was so tender and flavorful!! The sides were also very delicious, as well!! I would highly recommend this restaurant, if you are in the Outer Banks area!! SOO SOO GOOD!! 😋 YUM!!

The staff are impeccably, friendly, too!! Top-notch customer service!! 🙌

2nd time in. I have ordered brisket, BBQ and the fried chicken. As they say...good enough to slap yo momma. Chicken makes the colonel into a corporal. Brisket was friggin tender. BBQ is just what you expect and want.

This BBQ joint is not messing around!!!

We were in luck and came on a day where they had the bacon cabbage. Amazing!!!!!
The collard greens here were sweeter than I've experienced but still good, and as for the meat, the pulled pork and fried chicken were on point!

Between the food and the customer service, this restaurant is a MUST!

Very good food! The restaurant is big and open and very clean. I have had the ribs and the baked chicken and they were both delicious. Good sides as well. Definitely recommend.

Man oh man, the service was phenomenal and food was insanely delicious at this fast paced, almost full restaurant- but with plenty of space and high ceilings to kick back and not feel crowded.
Server was fantastic, paid attention to small details as he saw my Mom eyeballing the boxes of moon pies and slipped a few in her togo bag as we left. (He also mentioned he is a school-teacher) lets just say, he understood the assignment! ;)
A+ across the board here, from food to friendliness, I will make this a regular yearly visit on my trip out to OBX!!

A wonderful place to feel like you’re at home while at the beach. The chicken and dumplings made me cry because it made me feel like my mom was here still and I was in her kitchen. Keep doing what you guys do because it’s great!
