Don't drive to Johns Drive in unless you plan on dropping a courier off to order and retrieve your food. There's just little or no parking available which is just the way it's suppose to be. It's a walk off the beach drive in for crying out loud Who pays for a $5+ hot dog? Well, you have to try one to find out and let me tell you, this IS no ordinary hot dog! This thing is huge and simple with a great chili topping on top of a huge split down the middle grilled dog! Worth every penny! I also had a cheese burger which rivals Five Guys except priced more reasonably. The crinkle cut fries were hot and crispy. I sure was happy to see them open on this beautiful fall Saturday!. Can't wait to go back to try other menu items.

I forgot to order hushpuppies along with my wife's burger to go. You guys hooked it up, quick! Food was great and we'll definitely be back anytime we're here. This place was a great find!

Came here with my kids and husband. Saw they were closing at 9:30 and ordered burgers and hush puppies. They handed us our food and informed us they were closing at 5pm due to the storm. Burgers didn’t come with the condiments we ordered and hush puppies were burnt with no butter or sauce but by the time we opened up all the food nobody was there as they had closed. Won’t go again.

We stayed in OBX for a week and couldn't stop eating at this small beach shack. The burgers, shakes, and popcorn shrimp are delicious!

Old school ice cream place. No frills, no ridiculous, gimicky flavors/toppings or commercial feel. I imagine this is how ice cream was done decades ago. Milkshakes are excellent and at least $1-$2 cheaper than other spots.

We had a great experience getting lunch from John's. It was wonderful we were able to call in our order ahead of time. The we each got the Dolphin boat with fries-- which were so hot and delicious!! In addition to the amazing fried okra and peach milk shake.
