The Restaurant was all I was hoping for as a longtime destination restaurant. Lakeside dining, beautiful food, a very tasty wine and a special dessert of Italian Almond Cake. We shared some of the sweet potato corn bread and roasted crimini mushrooms. And we're very chuffed and thankful to Cheyenne for encouraging the kitchen to enhance the mashed potatoes with horseradish for the side with their terrific prime rib. The pork tenderloin was delightful as well. Nice house cabernet.
I dined here for lunch with my mom for her 87th birthday. Upon being seated our server offered her a complimentary glass of champagne. She had the turkey avocado sandwich and said it was the best she'd ever had. I had the avocado toast which was also good. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The view of the lake was beautiful. Highly recommend this restaurant fior a nice getaway off the beaten path.
The atmosphere is exceptional. The views of Lake Toxaway - especially from the outside dinning area - are very special. And the service is exceptional. However, the food is just average. The offerings are varied, and are what you would expect in a nice restaurant, but the food itself just did not live up to the expectation. I had the trout. It was tasteless, and the polenta was dry. The special was Short Ribs; they were more akin old traditional roast beef and gravy, than a dish...
