I love the history of this restaurant. Service was great, just a bit slow. Fried chicken was a highlight. Cobbler was warm and pretty good. Any Blue Ridge Parkway fan must stop here at some point.
The food was fantastic and the service was great. The fried chicken was A+ and all of the sides were delicious. Get the collard greens. They brought crayons and things for the kids to color on while we waited. FYI parents - the kids meals had very generous portions. They were essentially the same size as the main menu. I definitely recommend stopping here as you traverse the parkway.Kid-friendliness: They were so nice to the children and graciously accommodated our large group.

This place is a throwback to earlier times. It was renovated to the original style of the 40s or 50s. They were understaffed, as are so many restaurants now and were out of many selections. We wound up getting a 15.00 burger that was extremely overcooked. Rather than offering to remake, we were offered a 25% discount. Probably won't be returning.
