Food was like warm except for ribs which were ice cold. We sent it back and they put it in microwave for a minute. It was barely warm plus it tasted like microwave food not smoked as it should have. We will not be back.
I had heard a lot of good things about this barbecue place so I was very happy when I finally ate here. I was sort of discouraged from the get-go. I believe this place has lots of regulars and they were more concerned with them than some newbie coming in the door. I think we got neglected for 15 minutes before somebody decided to wait on us and we were sitting in the front of the counter. I also didn't know they were going to close at 8:00 which is pretty early considering it is daylight savings time and summertime people usually eat late. The barbecue was very sweet tasting and so was most of the vegetables. I think they put a little dash of sugar on everything. I am a diabetic so this didn't sit too well with me. I tend to go for the vinegar based better than the sweet BBQ. All in all it was pretty flavorful I can see why they get lots of compliments on it. I mean who doesn't like the taste of sugar. I overall though wasn't too impressed like I said they mainly concern with their repeat customers. I think if you're an outsider be prepared to wait a little bit they want to check you out for a little bit before they serve you. I mean it's a bite to eat but nothing really stood out here. They're always busy but they need to work on customer service and cleanliness. I will say they at least have cost-effectiveness which is one of my three C's of diners and dives. They are not that pricey so that's one of the good things I took away from my visit. I'm not in a hurry to come back here nothing really stood out. So they do not get my recommendation for diners and dives they need to work on some things. However I don't think the people in this area really give a care they're going to come here regardless which is sad they need to improve. If I go here again I hope things improve. God Bless America
We are used to Florida style bbq that is not chopped and heavily smoked but had to try this since it’s so close to our campground. I ordered the weekend special bbq plate that had chopped pork and a drumstick/thigh piece of chicken, came with slaw and fries. Hubby got a cheeseburger and we shared a side of fried okra. Like I said it’s different than what I’m used to but still pretty good. Prices are reasonable as well and everyone was friendly. If we we’re staying longer we may have gone back but we’re leaving in the morning.
We have been enjoying Tarheel Q for years. Today was different, we got take out, two chopped with red slaw French fries and teas. Not editable, never have I had barbecue that bad, what's going on? Was this on purpose? Were you thinking give this to take out customers, they won't take the time to drive back and complain! Well we didn't, but I plan on doing my best to let everyone know that Tarheel Q is not what it used to be.
Loved this restaurant for years. But today, we ordered a chopped BBQ tray like always, and it was awful! BBQ was mealy and tasteless.
