We did a wine tasting of the dry wines they offer and they were delicious. The pinot grigio really won us over as it has no added tannins and has a beautiful gold color. Light bodied but packed with flavor.
My wife and I walked in shortly before closing time on a date night. We were promptly greeted and asked if we had time for a tasting before closing. The gentleman behind the bar said absolutely, no worries. We tried the fruit wines and they were amazing. We ended up purchasing multiple bottles.
Very friendly staff, excellent service, excellent wine. Highly recommend. We will return.
Absolutely amazing! Loved every one of the sweet wines. đđ·đđ·đđ·đ
Beautiful location, staff exceptionally helpful and friendly...oh, and the wines are excellent, of course!
We had an incredible time at Weathervane Winery. The wine is delicious and the staff are welcoming. It's a beautiful Winery.
Dry? Not even close. Their âdry redâ could double as pancake syrup in a pinch. I kept checking the tasting menu like I was the problem: Surely this next one will be dry⊠But no, each glass was like a passive-aggressive dessert. I felt like I was being gaslit by grapes. And at over $10 for a half pour in a thimble size glass made me wonder who was mad at me.
Donât get me wrongâif you love sweet wine, this may be your Shangri-La. But if youâre looking for structured tannins or crisp minerality, youâre more likely to find Bigfoot enjoying a charcuterie board in the corner.
We have had Weathervane at wine festivals, but we recently decided to stop by their winery after a hike.
We did a wine tasting of the sweet wines available:
*Placid Peach - this is the one that I remembered and liked. Not my favorite peach wine as I like a little stronger peach flavor, but still a good one.
*Rooster Red - an okay wine, did not get much of the intended cranberry flavor.
*Strawberry Breeze - thought this was a very good strawberry wine.
*Rooster Black - this was very good! Good blackberry flavor.
*Tropical Wave - their summer seasonal wine. It was okay.
After we did the tasting, we got a glass of their Placid Peach and Rooster Black and enjoyed them on the patio. I really ended up liking Rooster Black the best.
My only critiques are because of my own personal preferences. I have really come to like wineries that offer flights. Going to a winery really allows you to enjoy multiple wines rather than having a full glass or bottle of just one wine like you would at home. It's unfortunate that Weathervane does not offer flights. I would also love a wine slushy on a hot day, and it was not offered here.
Overall, we enjoyed their wines and would recommend stopping by if you are in the area. They are dog friendly, too, so our pup was allowed to be with us!
Nice place. Good wines
We went there on Saturday with a big group of people and they were so sweet and accommodating! It was a very hot day and they made sure we had water and had the outside fans on!
I was fortunate enough to sample some of Weathervane Winerys offerings at the Yadkin Valley Wine festival. Blue Norther is hands down the sweetest and smoothest blueberry flavored wine I have ever tasted. Thrilled I bought a bottle home with me. I wish I had bought a case!

Good wine. Better slushies.
Weathervane Winery: Where the wine flows, the dad jokes are dangerously unfiltered, and your tasting comes with a side of sass.
Run by Sid and Ericâa father-son combo with more personality than a reality TV reunionâthis place isnât your average snooty vineyard. Nope. Itâs backyard hospitality meets bold reds and âdonât ask whatâs in the blend, just drink itâ energy.
Sid? Looks like heâs been crushing grapes and egos since the â70s.
Eric? Equal parts wine nerd and sarcasm technician.
Together, theyâre like the Hall & Oates of fermentationâwith fewer love songs and more alcohol.
The wine? Legit.
Sweet or dry? They've got both, and they'll roast you lovingly for your choice.
Wine slushies? Dangerous. Delicious. Probably illegal in three states.
Tastings? Youâll walk in curious, walk out with a case and a strong buzz.
The vibe?
Lawn chairs. Live music. Someoneâs aunt two-stepping with a glass of red.
You might show up for a quiet sipâbut youâll stay because Sid told a wild story about the time he âaccidentallyâ invented a new blend.
Bottom line:
Weathervane Winery isnât just wineâitâs a whole experience.
Good drinks. Great people. And the only place in Lexington where your wine comes with a free comedy show.
Go see Sid and Eric. Bring a designated driver. And maybe cancel your plans for the next day.
Wonderful staff. Wines were light and easy drinking. All stainless steel aged. Four estate vines.
They have dry and sweet wine tastings.
We LOVE this winery. Great wines, atmosphere, and the owners are phenomenal. Have met great people who have now become friends. Could not be more pleased. This has become our go to winery.
