“Decided to see this vineyard on the way back home from Asheville. Cypress Bend Vinyard is about 20 minutes inland from Rt 74, but worth the drive! The entrance is very nice, and you'll pass just some of their vineyards in addition to a large tented area. Inside a nice reception area awaits. We were greated by Lisa and soon began tasting their award winning wines, many had won multi-year first place awards and one best of show for a national contest. Many of their wines were named after the descendants of the land/vinyards. They specialize in muscadine grapes, Carlos, Noble and Magnolla, producing 16 table wines!
Upon arrival we were told many wines were already sold out, and new batches not yet bottled. It was fine though, we sampled a several flights of white, red, and Rose wines from dry to sweet, and even a peach wine that tasted more like a real peach, then a wine, which we bought. Also purchased their In A Canoe wine and their To-Morrow wine. Lisa and Makayla provided the histories of each and shared their personnal favorites with us. They also ship their products on their website. Having visited many vinyards, it is rare we like any wines (even at the Biltmore) but today bought 4 different varieties! About 1½ hours away from me, will probably return with a packed lunch for some more Cypress Bend wines.“
