I teally like the place been stopping here for 20 years
If hells on earth it’s here, dryer than Africa hush puppies that taste like startch clumps in ur mouth. Fish with no seasoning no flavor tastes frozen and is overall cooked like something you could get at long Jon silvers. I’ve dined at a retirement home my relative is staying in way better than the hellish great value stuff from here.
Good food and service
Joe ([Female]our server) was wonderful! She answered all our many questions and pointed us to the best stuff on the menu and she was right! My friend said that this was the BEST Burger he had ever had (Smoke Burger) and the shrimp crab potato is 🔥 great
Had an absolute fabulous meal at this restaurant as a born raised generational Customer. I understand where the concerns are about menu changes over the years but truly this restaurant is a one-of-a-kind experience. Myself and a friend who had never been to The Sanitary go sat on a weekday evening on the outside seating section where we had the pleasure of having ashley as our waitress. First off I want to thank her for just being a wonderful waitress for us. she was very kind, very knowledgeable of the menu knowledgeable of the history of the actual place and was overall a lil ray of awesome in her own way . We ordered just about every seafood option and had absolutely no complaints other than maybe a little bit more seasoning or some salt could’ve been needed but overall it was a great meal fabulous food. The calamari was possibly one of the best I’ve ever had not chewy like a rubber band at all perfectly tender. The scallops were lightly breaded, not oily and perfectly done. The shrimp not overcooked great seasoning. The potato salad is better than any grandmother’s Thanksgiving dish. The flounder took up 2/3 of the plate hanging off the ends. The Keylime pie for dessert was also fantastic. Restaurants like this have been around for as long as they have because they’ve been able to adapt to the clientele over generations of time The older generations who are leaving poor reviews, understandably are not seeing some of their preferred options on the menu. However, as that clientele basis begins to diminish it’s necessary to cater for a younger pallet.
If you skipped to the end for the TLDR
Ignore the boomer reviews and just go enjoy a meal here. Don’t be in a rush don’t be rude and take a moment to just enjoy a meal in a landmark of a restaurant. Also tip the staff they deserve it!

I’ve been coming here since I was 10 or 11 years old, and it is still my favorite place to visit when I’m down in the area. They have phenomenal fried oysters and hush puppies. If you eat there you can eat out on the water it’s incredibly beautiful and a great location.
Excellent food and great atmosphere. Expensive fare but worth it!
The Shrimp and Crab potato were delicious look like the hush puppies always are. Our server was kind and on top of it! Gorgeous views are always a bonus. Would recommend

Our server, Samantha, was incredibly kind and attentive to us. We asked a lot of questions, and she did an amazing job of answering them. We were seated immediately, and we didn't have to wait long for the food. The scallops turned out slightly fishy, and one other dish was slightly cold, but it was still overall an amazing experience.

Great place right on the water. Both inside and outside seating. The oysters were fresh and meaty. The fried fish had just enough batter and didn't mask the flavor. Green beans had lots of bacon, the fried calamari and clams were done just right. Not chewy and you could tell they were fresh with no freezer taste.

The worst seafood platter I've ever had. I had shrimp that were rubbery and tasteless, oysters that were mushy and tasteless and a crab cake that had plenty of taste but it wasn't crab. It was quiet because no one was there. That should have told me something when we get walked in. Almost forgot, she crab soup 👎. Overall 👎👎👎

Great food, excellent attentive service. Enjoyed the atmosphere and had many family memories here. One of my Mom's favorite restaurants. She was a local.
We arrived at or about 6:00 pm. Waitress took drink orders and we got our drinks. Placed orders for appetizers. About an hour later my wife got up and spoke with somebody in other room about all drinks needed refills and appetizers had not been served. Finally got refills on drinks. Waitress came over and said food would be right out. All food finally arrived. Still no appetizers. I canceled mine. Food came out, stuffed flounder, fish tacos, crab legs. Crab legs came out cold, tacos had set long enough that they broke apart when picked up.
Overall the kitchen staff blew it tonight. The waitress was overbooked with tables she did best she could with what she was handed. Queso’s to her. We won’t be back.
