Abele's Family Restaurant

Our 1st time here was an experience! Loved it so much because it reminded me of Mamaw's fantastic cooking. Got vegetable bar with many choices, all delicious, but the green beans were a favorite. Country fried steak was terrific. Actually, everything was terrific. Will definitely go back even though it's an hour from home.

Wow.. A new favorite restaurant. Great, country style cooking; fun, comfortable, relaxed atmosphere; service was great. We'll definitely go again.

Update: We did go again... And again... And again...

It's over an hour drive for us, but we'll make the drive just to go to Abele's.

This place has great food for a reasonable price. We drive miles just to eat here.

We stumbled upon this restaurant and loved it so much we went back the next day! The decor is so fun and interesting! Every nook and cranny is filled with something, you can walk around and see it all.
Oh yeah, the food - it is so so good! I got the baked potato with pot roast - I could only eat half of it and leftovers for the next day. The potato is huge and the pot roast was fabulous! My friend got the livermush sandwich and she loved it! She could only eat half too.
The buffet bar is well stocked and looks delicious. It was very clean and it all looks fresh and appetizing.
The prices can't be beat either.
The staff is very friendly and so nice to talk to, no rushing at all.
It is worth the drive for us. Enjoy a delicious meal then go on a great hike - there are plenty of places to visit.

We had heard so much about Abele's but were afraid to try it again after a not so great first visit (around covid time). We decided to give it another chance and are so glad we did! The food was amazing! I tried almost every side on the buffet and they were so delicious! I had the flounder, hubby had the country ham. Both delicious. The price was very reasonable! We both ate for less than $25. We will be going back again for sure!

The Sunday buffet was a all you can eat vegetable, fruit, desert, salad bar with your choice of 1 serving of meat that was to be prepared to order from the Kitchen. I ordered country style steak and when it was served was actually some frozen Salisbury steak. The vegetables were all fresh from a can with the exception of the steamed cabbage. Wait staff was great, but the food was terrible. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place.

Popped in for breakfast on our way home from vacation and the ham biscuits were OUTSTANDING! Lots of fun signs all over the place and quick service too. Easy on/off I-40.
