From Spartanburg SC, on my way up to the mountains to go camping--thought I would stop and check this place out. Friday afternoon 1100--lunch buffet. This place is obviously well-managed--super organized and efficient paying on the way in. Great service and the dining room was spotlessly clean. The buffet was well stocked and everything was fresh; great salad bar with lots of items. I must admit I am not a big fan of southern/comfort food, but everything I sampled was good, including fried chicken and fried fish. Did I mention the dessert bar? Me thinks this must be a local institution around these parts as it is too far from the interstate to attract much out of town traffic. If I lived in Morganton, I would be happy to have this place as a regular haunt. Good job.

I ordered a NY Strip to go. I asked to use the regular to-go box for my salad so I could fix it better and not dump thousand island dressing all over myself. I told her I would skip the dessert and bread so I could put my salad in the better box. When I brought it back, she weighed it and said that I owed another $13.03. When I asked how much the base weight was, I was told it did not matter that was the price for USING THAT BOX. I asked to speak to a manager who told me the same thing. I said if you are going to charge me for a salad, the menu price is $9.99 even though a salad came with my meal. I was told that was only if I ate inside and not to go. The to go time was about 5 to 7 minutes until it was ready. l thought it was a little bit off. When I got home. I found out the reason. The steak was wrapped in tin foil and WAS NOT GRILLED!!! I guess they just put it in an oven now at a steak house. Half of the steak was fat!!! Worst meal I have ever had!!! The steak was dry inside the tin foil. I told them this was not right and I was going to leave a bad review. Manger told me to go ahead she did not care. Here is my honest review as promised. Do not eat here until the conditions change. This used to be a great restaurant but not any more!!!

We were getting our Christmas Tree and stopped in for lunch afterwards my son and I had the open faced Roast Beef sandwich with gravy mashed potatoes and green beans it was fantastic. Very friendly staff and very clean definetly will return for Steak and Fried Chicken soon.
