This is my fav ice cream parlor in the area. We purchase their ice cream often. For some reason on the night of April 5th, every ice cream we bought tasted bland. We ordered lemon bar and graham central station and the lemon bar lacked lemon and the GCS ice cream tasted like vanilla. This has never happened before so it could just be a fluke but fair warning. Sample the ice cream before buying a quart or pint.

There aren't too many places out there that make homemade ice cream anymore. Handel's makes some of the best in town. They have a lot of unique flavors that you cannot get anywhere else. I've been here a few times and recommend their butter pecan and black cherry flavors.

After moving to the area last year, I made it my mission to try local ice cream place in Cary/Morrisville. I’m an ice cream purist and prefer the traditional flavors. All those fancy flavors with lots of random sugary things mixed in to oddball bases are just not for me. And those giant shakes and sundaes overflowing with candies and mountains of whipped cream? I’m nauseous just thinking about it.That being said, Handel’s is the best ice cream shop in every way. The prices are good, there’s a huge variety of flavors, including the traditional ones plus the more exotic, and the employees are super friendly and sweet. Best of all, the ice cream is absolutely delicious and the portions are huge!! It’s on the opposite side of town from me, which is good, because otherwise I’d go every week!

We like them because they serve authentic icecream tailored to the flavor - with a color and texture - that suits the palate and is true to its composition. A Black Raspberry that was smooth, sweet and fruity tasty. A Monkey Business that had texture and context. A coffee chocolate chip that was creamy albeit could have had more character. Like a bolder version of itself. Nevertheless a gem. In a world where Woke is the norm - this one I reckon will stand out. Tradition has its followers.

I’ve been going to Handles for several years. Lots of flavors to choose from, which is nice but it doesn’t taste as homemade as I remember and like. I remember them tasting more high end- creamy with fresh ingredients. The last 3 times it was kinda like grocery store ice cream, which isn’t bad necessarily but not what I was looking for. The apple pie was overly cookie-ish with little bits of apple and the cinnamon/spice I’d expect to get in an apple pie was kinda lack luster. The strawberry cheesecake had syrupy strawberry swirl not real bites which I guess fits but there just wasn’t a good balance cause I wanted more actual bits of strawberry and surprisingly I thought the cheesecake chunks were too big making it overpowering and the could of blended into the base better- think Blizzard but even a blizzard has better strawberry mixed in.I have given it a good try, just not my cup of ice cream anymore. My sentiments are the flavors are out of balance and underwhelming. Except maybe the Peanut butter chocolate but in my opinion most versions of that flavor anywhere are good. That flavor was alright but sadly, I’ll be looking for something more exciting like gelato where I can sit and savor my treat.
It was about to close. Yet the person over counter was gracious enough to serve us for a takeout. Taste was also very good.
