Been coming here for over 8 years for take out sushi and I highly recommend eating in if you're able to. We ordered edamame, crab ragoon, and then...
Fried jalapeño roll - its like a high end cream cheese jalapeño popper.
Fried Spicy crab roll is perfect for those who aren't into a fishy sushi.
Dragon roll is a bit pricey but absolutely worth every penny and bite! It's large, eel, salmon and crab. Must try!
Boba tea was fresh and yummy, perfect to counter the spiciness of the sushi's.
Will be repeat customers for a long time!
Also- a very very short walk from main street if you feel like walking downtown before and after.

First time trying Kyoto and we were very impressed! Service was great. Best gyoza and onion soup I’ve had at a Japanese restaurant. We live 45 mins away but will be back!

Some of the best sushi I have ever had. Great selection.

Went on a 3/15/25 Saturday afternoon for lunch with a friend. We got the Crab Rangoon, a rainbow roll, and a Mt. Fuji roll. I'm new to NC and am exploring the restaurants around the local towns.
Buisness was slow with only 2 other tables being used.
Crab Rangoons were crisp and flaky but lacked crab meat. I tare the corners and get 4 bites out of 1 Rangoon. I did not come across any crab meat, just cream cheese filling. The sauce was not red, sweet, and sour sauce. They were served it with duck sauce. When I asked if they had red sauce, he said sure, but needed my little bowl that had the duck sauce in it, that my friend was using to eat his crab Rangoon. When I handed him the dish with duck sauce, he said he didn't have the red sweet and sour sauce. This leads me to believe he did not speak good English. A woman originally was our server, then she disappeared, and we got this guy.
Mt. Fuju roll was okay, but not worth the 20$. It was supposed to have soft shell crab, but either the shell was so soft there was no crunch or flavor, or the crab was missing from there, too. I did get 2/6 pieces that I could taste the softshell crab. This leads me to believe they are only putting small pieces of soft shell crab in the roll. However, I could be wrong.
The Rainbow roll was dry and made my friend concerned about the freshness of the raw fish. He said it was okay, nothing to write home about.
We drank water.
Our bill was about 50$. +tip.

We have been coming here and supporting this business for over 10 years. We have maintained our support even through inflation (even though their sushi has never been anything special). There has been a couple times when the hibachi was not that great, but not to the point where we had to take it back, until tonight. Our spring rolls were so greasy they were dripping, our plates tasted like they had been sitting out and the portion sizes were WAY off. We decided to drive back and politely ask them to remake the food and was shocked when the owner cocked an attitude with us and wanted to argue about how they have made their food fresh for 25 years, blah blah. We then had to sit for over 20 minutes waiting for them to remake everything just for it to come out to us the exact same way! This time it was the daughter who handed us our food and she has dealt with us for years and still argued back saying “spring rolls are cooked in grease so they will be greasy”. I explained to her that they have NEVER been that bad. She didn’t want to take that as an answer and continued to argue with us, REGULAR supportive customers at that. After tonight we have lost all respect for this business and do not plan to ever return. They DO NOT appreciate their long term supporters.

I mean yuck! No flavor and way over priced. $20 for bland vegetables, rice cooked with no flavor and chicken that maybe got a little salt and pepper. Don’t waste your time here. Go to Kazakou instead. So worth it!

Great people and great food. Support local businesses! I've been going to this place since I was a teenager. I'm now 32 and it is still one of my favorite places to dine. The sushi is delicious and the hibachi plates are amazing.

Food for hungry people. Service was polite and quick. Not fancy, but tidy. Noodles lacked zest. Yum Yum side sauce was very thin. Pork teriyaki was fairly middle ground. Restroom was functional and regularly maintained. Prices seemed high ($60 lunch after 20% tip for three people with no drinks).

I had lunch here with my kids a few weeks ago (late July/early August 2024) and we ordered several rolls, seaweed salad, noodles, and boba. The rolls weren't great but weren't awful (though definitely didn't taste fresh), the seaweed salad was spoiled, and the boba was ok.

The server noticed that we didn't eat the seaweed salad and asked if we just didn't want it or if there was a problem. When I said (diplomatically, I thought) that it didn't taste very fresh he removed it from the table and from our bill. So I did appreciate that, but if food that was that far gone made it to my plate, it definitely made me question the quality of everything else. Definitely won't be going back.

Placed an order for a sushi roll of fried shrimp and asked if salmon on the outside was raw and I received it cooked. A girl I talk to was rude, I spent $58 and a 40 minute drive for this. NO THANK YOU!

Our group of 3 left feeling sick!
Overpriced food, no seasoning.
The soup seemed to have an odd flavor and the food was terrible. The noodles were plain, with no flavor (for $6) and the main entrees were no better. The ‘steak’ was nearly non existent looking like tiny crumbs. The carrots were mushy and had no flavor.
This restaurant gives as little as possible for extreme prices.
Everyone in my group is now sick to their stomachs after visiting.

The place is super dark and dated. Our server was nice, but then disappeared and played on her phone over at the sushi bar area as we waited for to-go boxes. The bill doesn’t state it, nor does the sticker at the cashier station say your bill will be higher if you pay with a card. The sticker says there is a cash and a card price but doesn't mention price on the bill is if you pay cash. So they tacked an extra $3 on the bill. Also, the prices listed online are a lot less than when you get to the restaurant.
The food was bland, and the carrots weren't sweet, just boiled. For the $70 (before tip) price tag for a family of 4, it wasn't worth it, and we won't be back. On to the next.
