Came here for a tiki bar. Got a country bar with colorful chairs. The Mai Tai barely rates for a generic beachside tourist walk-up bar. Country music concert on the tv.

Grilled tuna sandwich was seasoned okay with a pretty good sear, but in tiny triangles that wouldn’t stay on the bun.

Bar area was definitely full of flies and bartender, though friendly, had complaints about ventilation.

If you come here looking for a tiki bar, don’t.

If you come here looking for good local fish, don’t.

Come here for the fishing pier and the views of the beach and the cook-your-catch offer.

For the record- this experience was on 7/28 at about 7:30 PM.

This place SHOULD BE a staple in OBX.. but in it’s current state from my experience, it is likely not to be. There are hardly any restaurants in OBX that are truly beach waterfront with a spectacular view like this restaurant on the Pier.
Sadly, it seems all for nought when it is completely mismanaged and disorganized. Not to mention, a terribly tiny menu, but I can’t even comment on the food as we didn’t even get a chance to eat.
My partner and I’s experience was an hour long game of waiting around for a table while watching after initially being told 15 minutes. So we sat at the bar and got a drink, the bartender wasn’t the friendliest but I’ll give her a pass because of the total dysfunction of the place.
We watched almost every table at one point waiting for food. Later on, tables started opening up, but still we were not seated.
We said enough is enough after a while and walked out.

Restrooms were hit. Service took about 2 hours. Food came out raw and barely cooked. Had to send it back. Margaritas were lame.

Fun place to hit up before or after fishing at the pier. Try the grilled tuna bites! The food was great, friendly service and beachy atmosphere.

Worst place to eat I could’ve cooked my food a lot better and the drink was way too strong. I got the blackened shrimp and the bikini martini. I basically get a wide shot glass drink that tastes too strong, I had to wait on my shrimp which usually is a quick thing to cook was the last to arrive. The steamed veggies had absolutely zero seasoning tasted like came from a frozen bag you get from the grocery store.

Wait staff was great, nice atmosphere, but the food was terrible and overly priced. Ordered a mixed drink that looked to be about 4 ounces for $14 and their tuna steaks were bland.

Server was great. Got a pulled pork sandwich was $13.99. It was dry and cold. Not worth the the wait or the time it took to prepare!

I’ve visited this fishing pier several times, hoping it would live up to its potential, but unfortunately, it continues to fall short in several key areas.

One of the biggest frustrations is the bar and restaurant, which often close earlier than the posted hours. It’s disappointing to arrive expecting food or drinks, only to be turned away because staff have decided to shut things down early. It gives the impression that customer service is not a priority.

Even more discouraging is the general atmosphere created by some of the employees and what seems to be a group of the owners’ older friends who hang around. Their unfriendly attitudes make the space feel unwelcoming, and I’ve heard similar feedback from others in the community who now avoid the pier entirely.

The real shame is that this place could be a fantastic destination. The location is great, and with a little more effort, professionalism, and care about the customer experience, it could thrive. Unfortunately, it feels like the people running it just don’t care enough to make that happen.

Here’s hoping they wake up and realize the opportunity they’re wasting
