The bonus was being able to take the dog and sit on the patio with some decent food. We got there close to 8 so it seemed like we got leftovers...dregs of the soup pot

I have eaten at Morgan's Tavern and Grill several times since I discovered this "Gem" a few years back. I have always had great food, great service and they do a great job with the atmosphere. It looked great at Christmas. Each time we go there is a wait, usually a good sign of a great spot to eat. Patience is a virtue that I have and waiting an hour during peak times is still worth it. If you want quick service go to McDonalds, because Morgan's "food" does not hang out in a warmer, everything we get is fresh and hot. My favorites, fried shrimp, fried portabellas, fried oysters as an app, shrimp tacos, Ahi Tuna, have not had a bad salad yet and the honey covered hot croissants they start you with... worth the wait just that!Looking forward to our next visit already!I am a picky person with 30 years in F&B management and this place is consistent and clean. Posting at 99 health grade! Prior to that 95.5.If I had any feedback the bath rooms need an upgrade, and new towel dispensers, it is the only comment my wife and I shared negative after leaving after saying we were glad we returned again.
Me and my son wanted to enjoy downtown with our dog and then got hungry for lunch. We've heard there's a few restaurants that are pet friendly or you can eat on the patios with your pet. Then we walked by this place and it is amazing! It has a beautiful outdoor covered patio that is absolutely dog friendly and they even have a dog menu with dessert! We ordered the Portobello chips for an appetizer, the Big Daddy's shrimp roll and the char-crusted salmon. Our pup got a burger, broccoli and mashed potatoes. Our waitress Marilyn was more than inviting and very friendly to us and our pup and very knowledgeable about the menu. When we started to wrap everything up she asked if we wanted dessert and I didn't know they had a dessert menu. She said she'll be right back. And brought out a tray of six over the top, deliciously looking dessert options. She explained to us what each were and which were her favorites or most popular and why. So of course we had to order dessert for us and the pup! It was such an amazing experience and to be able to enjoy lunch with our dog to that extent was something we had never experienced before out in public. This is definitely one of our favorite spots in New Bern... No it is our favorite! And we can't wait to go back!! Thank you guys for being such an incredible establishment and having such great staff!

A fine dining like experience without the high ticket price. I very much enjoyed my salad with a cajun shrimp topper. My boyfriend thought the Cuban was lacking something, the pickles did not seem to carry the acid, or the sauce, or lack there of, made it unbalanced.Drinks were refilled numerous times, and Eve was a good server. They also took a reservation which was probably necessary. Pretty busy! Overall happy we went (as tourists).
This place is awesome!! The Crescent rolls are great the drinks are great. The tuna and shrimp dish they have is out of this world good.

Dinners were average at the very best - the croissants and an appetizer were very good.Atmosphere is very nice.Our server unfortunately was terrible. I hope it was just a bad night for this young lady. It took us 3 hours to have 2 drinks, appetizer and dinner. I believe she checked on us twice - thank goodness we ordered everything the first time she came to the table - which took 10-15 mins. Was very uninterested in at least attempting to make our evening better especially knowing that the “kitchen was very busy”.First visit there — very very disappointed.
The food and atmosphere where fantastic. This was out first trip to New Bern, we where told to check this place out by a local. The food omg, it was fantastic. The Service was wonderful. Here is how our meal went. Warm Croissants with Fresh Honey drizzled over them, Crab Dip with fresh local crab meat, Shrimp and Yellow Fin Taco's. The cherry on top was the dipping sauce they brought out with the sweet potato fries. It is indescribably delicious and the same sauce is poured over the bread pudding. We ended up taking 2 serving of the Bread Pudding home with us for a delightful snack. We will defiantly be back!!!
