This restaurant has been very good but lately not so good. Fish was soggy and not a crunchy crust. Also got a bowl of spoiled clam chowder.

Very cute little place, with an outstanding wait staff. The food was disappointing , to be polite. The shrimp sampler was a mix of frozen junk shrimp. The calamari was just ok, but certainly not fresh calamari. The fried shrimp dinner was lesser quality than you'd find at your local dive bar. But the biggest issue was the grilled mahi-mahi. Wicked, wicked case of food poisoning in a rented beach house with Jack and Jill bathrooms. There was no rest for anyone. Fortunately, the mahi was the only issue, and more fortunately, the majority of the meal was left on the plate. So, do yourself a favor, and find a better option. (There are many on the island, and in Southport. ) Oh, and this awful meal cost ALOT for what it was. Stay away!

There were 11 patrons in our group; 8 adults & 3 children. We arrived as soon as they opened since we had a large group. We had to wait for a table, then when we were seated, they sat the adults at one table, & the children at a different table, which was across the room. This was a yearly get-together for us. The food was good, the service was not exceptional. Regardless, after our meal, we chatted for a bit, since it had been a year since our family had visited. The owner approached our table and said we needed to leave so they could clear the table. Our tab for the two tables included meals & beverages was at least $300, not including our tip. Needless to say, this will be the last time we visit Jones Seafood on our yearly visit to Oak Island.

The service was very good. The salmon was good, but most of the food seasoning of any kind. I had to salt the grilled shrimp. It was our least favorite meal on the island.

Jones seafood has been one of my favorite restaurants for many years. Went there for take out the other night and sadly, the portions were skimpy and the fried chicken was quite dry. They used to have the best fried chicken plate in the state. Not only the quality and quantity has gone down, but prices have soared. The wonderful chicken dinner went from $9.99 to $13.99. I don't mind a higher price, but, I do expect it to at least be what it was a few months back.

Ate at Jones’ last night. The food was fantastic. However, the service was far from lacking. This was a call in take out order. I called in and was told they were not taking carry out orders and to call back in 30 minutes. I waited 5 minutes and was answered by someone different. He placed the order and said it would be ready between 35-45 minutes. I arrived at 50 minutes and the order wasn’t ready. It took an hour. When our food was brought out the gentleman at the counter asked the waitress if “she made sure the order was correct.” She said yes. When we arrived back home we realized that our order was not correct. We were missing slaw, hush puppies and clam strips from our order. The food that we did receive was fantastic, but it seems that the new management is totally overwhelmed by any sort of crowd just like the previous management. Originally this was a three star review but I downgraded it to one after going back tonight. Instead of calling in our to go order I drove over and placed it. After placing the order I explained to the gentleman at the counter what happened two nights before, he said we can both look at the order before I leave. When the food came out he called my phone because I was waiting outside. When I arrived at the counter he tells me I can check my food. I asked him if he checked it. He tells me “no it was just brought up to him.” So I open the food and his exact words were “It’s perfect tonight!” I responded “well tonight it is.” To which he just looks at me. At that time I said, you never even apologized for the other night. To which he said “what do you want me to do?” I replied, “you still haven’t even apologized.” At that time he finally apologized. At no time did he offer a refund or anything to compensate. After he finally apologized I pointed out it took him four times to actually apologize. He then told me well I apologized what else do you want. This behavior is what I would expect from a teenage employee, not a grown man. My parents have owned property at Oak Island for about 5 years and we have always enjoyed Jones. I have never hesitated it recommending it to others. However, given tonight’s experience I will never go back to Jones and will never recommend it to others. I will also add that our food from two nights ago was much better than tonight.

The broiled flounder was cooked on one side and not on the other. Would not recommend any of the boiled food. The fried food was decent

Other people I ate with liked the food OK but my flounder was undercooked and made me sick. I ate very little because I realized it was not right.

This place has horrible food, we ordered the steak strips and they were so tough they were hard to cut, had no flavor, the baked potato was hard it was not worth the money, but the hushpuppies were wonderful!

We waited outside for about 25 minutes. That's ok but when we got inside there were at least 4 empty table. The server took our order. We waited al least another 30 minutes. She kept coming buy saying she was sorry for the wait but there was a large table in front of us. Then she came by and said they had a lot of take out orders. I ordered Shrimp, Oysters, Fries and Slaw. When We finally did get our order the Fries were room Temp the Oysters were lukewarm. The shrimp and slaw were the only thing on the plate that was the correct temp. I will got back there but only if every other restaurant is closed.

My family was staying at Oak Island for the week and decided to try a local place. Due to Covid a lot of places have strange hours, so we just opted to drive down the main drag and see what looked open. My husband and I both love to try restaurants that look ‘outdated’ (to some) and nostalgic. The well-established places always have the best food. My family wasn’t disappointed. We all tried something different. My husband said the deviled crab was the best he’s ever had. I loved the clam chowder. My kids enjoyed the macaroni and cheese, and even my picky son LOVED the hush puppies with honey butter. The environment is very friendly, and the staff were kind to my children, who are special needs. I highly recommend you give this place a try! It looks like a hole-in-the-wall, and it is that nostalgic, delicious, friendly kind of place that deserves a visit from every Oak Island guest.
