Good food and good value. Glad I found this place. Lots of old nostalgia from various NC fire departments for those who like to remember the glory days and tell war stories from their time in the uniform.

This place always has delicious, warm, and thoroughly filling food! The staff is so nice and live to share about the history of the establishment. The atmosphere is definitely very family friendly and is in line with classic diners with classic home cooking.

Whether you're getting breakfast or lunch, you can't go wrong with any of the options on the menu.

Always see this place busy so figured I’d give it a try. Waitress was sweet that was only positive! It’s like Waffle House at $17-20 per meal price then this place is for you. Nothing fancy about the food for such high prices. 1 pancake for $15 is a rip off rather go to Chanticleer better food and prices!

I hate with two kids, this place had a diner feel to it. Owner/hosts were real nice conversational and quick.
Meals included pancakes, French toast, home fries, egg biscuit sandwich, bacon and sausage.
French toast was a amazing, pancake was fluffy a lil overcooked, eggs were great, bacon wasn't as fatty and sausage was ok. The biscuit was a lil dry but good.

My family loves this place. My three year old especially love the firefighter theme memorabilia around the walls and restaurants.

We make an effort to go at least once every three months.

Its a cute little diner/ restaurant that the waiters and waitresses are great and friendly. The Food is amazing. Definitely a place to try.

Great staff. Terrible owners

Barry’s Cafe may have a warm, home like atmosphere on the surface, but that illusion completely collapses once you witness how the owner treats her staff.
Our server was exceptional genuine, attentive, and clearly doing everything she could to keep up in a busy environment. The rest of the servers were equally kind, visibly hustling, and working nonstop. That’s what made it so jarring to see a woman walking around in a nice outfit, not a standard uniform, smiling and greeting guests, suddenly turn around and begin snapping and yelling at the servers in a truly ugly, demeaning tone. At first, I assumed she was just a poorly trained manager because no professional owner should behave this way.
She ordered the servers to stop what they were doing and “run food,” then immediately contradicted herself by asking if they “wanted to do their job or just stand around doing nothing,” despite the fact that they were obviously already busy and in the middle of tasks. The hypocrisy and lack of awareness were astounding.
I then watched servers running back and forth carrying multiple plates while this woman leisurely wandered the floor, chatting, smiling, and at times physically blocking their paths. Instead of helping, she became an obstacle both literally and figuratively.
At one point, our server checked in on us while dropping food at another table. When she returned, her natural smile had turned into a tight, forced grin. Concerned, I asked if she was okay and then asked who the “lovely lady in green” was. That’s when she quietly told me it was her boss Denise.
Not long after, I watched my server speed walk toward the back, clearly trying to avoid another confrontation and let Denise pass. As she crossed the doorway, Denise snapped at her again, asking why she was “just standing around,” and then put her hands on her pushing her from behind to force her to move faster.
Watching a grown senior woman in a position of power physically touch and humiliate an employee in front of paying customers was beyond disgusting. It was unprofessional, unnecessary, and frankly pathetic.
My Wife and I immediately asked for boxes and left. After reading other reviews, it’s painfully clear this behavior is not a one time lapse it’s a pattern. Denise is repeatedly called out for bullying her staff, which says everything about the kind of person and “leader” she is.
There is nothing warm, welcoming, or “home-like” about a workplace run by someone who belittles, berates, and physically intimidates employees. Denise doesn’t need a new outfit she needs management training, anger-management classes, and a serious reality check.
The only reason I would ever return to Barry’s Cafe would be to tip the servers excessively, because they are the only people in that building who deserve respect or to make money there.
