Caffe Luna was the perfect venue for us to have our wedding. Not only is it beautiful, the food, service and management were outstanding. We were married on a Sunday which meant we had the entire restaurant just for us. From our first meeting with Darcy we knew this was the place for us. She is extremely personable, professional and accommodating. She was very responsive to the many questions and emails we had. In addition to taking the time to meet with us on several occasions. All of the food was delicious and plentiful. Our guests were talking about it for days after the wedding. We highly recommend Caffe Luna for any party or reception. Thank you to Darcy and all of the staff for your help in making our day so special!

Look no further if you’re searching for true Italian cuisine in downtown Raleigh. Caffe Luna has me over the proverbial moon after having dinner there recently.
Luna’s lasagna is phenomenal and the tomato sauce was amazing. My friend and I marveled at the dishes ordered by other patrons on this particular busy Friday night. Luna encapsulates that throwback, old world Italian vibe. Can’t wait to go back! And their chocolate gelato is fire! 🔥 ❤️

Sadly this place has gone downhill. Portion sizes are huge but lack flavor and salt, and my dish came out room temp at best. No music playing made for an awkward atmosphere. Potential for good ambience is there but just lacking.
Our server, Emma, was really nice and did a great job.

Cafe Luna was top notch for wedding reception. They are responsive and have lots of experience with receptions. So fun

Unfortunately, this was not a pleasant B Day experience. Let's do the positives first. We were seated right away We got water right away Pasta portion was extremely generous Atmosphere was basic but noise level was good They did offer a complimentary cheesecake slice for my B Day. Now the negatives. Bread was terrible. Stale, hard, dry, and cold Olive oil seemed rancid and had a strange after bite. When I inquired we were told it was “earthy”. I said ok and simply asked for butter. I was refused and told they don't have any! What? You're cooking a cream based sauce for our pasta dish. Most wines I wanted were not available by the glass and I was driving so opted for Prosecco. It didn't taste great either. The pasta dish had a cream sauce 6x the amount needed. The chicken was cubed and dry. It was less than average and honestly I was surprised for a non chain restaurant to serve it this way. The pasta was from a box, but that was fine. The taste of the cream sauce was ok. The wait staff seemed off after I asked for butter and only checked on us 2x. A very strange vibe that didn't feel welcoming. At the end, I was offered a slice of cheesecake on the house, but honestly I just wanted to end a disappointing meal. I thought I'd try a new restaurant, but this was about a D+ experience. Maybe it was just an off night for this restaurant, but I won't be back.

Disappointed and Confused by the Good Reviews

We came here after reading all the glowing reviews and honestly, I’m baffled. This was one of the most underwhelming meals we’ve had in a long time.

I ordered the lasagna, which was supposedly made with béchamel—but you’d never know it. It was absolutely drowned in red sauce, not hot when it arrived, and I could barely locate any meat. Just a mushy, soupy mess.

For our appetizer, we had the portobello mushroom with gorgonzola. The cheese was rancid—not strong or funky like gorgonzola should be, just clearly off. It was inedible.

My husband had the Rigatoni con Pollo alla Panna. Except… where was the chicken? He counted five tiny, bite-sized pieces. The rest of the dish was bland, as if it forgot it was supposed to have any flavor.

Worst of all was the service. When the waiter asked how everything was, we told him honestly—and his response was just, “Oh yeah, I see.” That was it. We asked to speak to a manager, but no one ever came.

This place might have been good at some point, or maybe we hit it on an off night, but based on our experience, I can’t recommend it. Don't believe the hype.

Lack of customer service. Bland food. Uncomfortable atmosphere. Rude to POC.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Caffe Luna this month and had a wonderful experience. Everything provided by the restaurant and especially by Darcey, the events coordinator, was amazing. The food was fresh and delicious, and there was special attention paid to dietary restrictions of guests as well as a great variety to choose from anyway. Darcey's professional and caring communication throughout the whole process made everything so easy and stress-free on our end. We can't thank Darcey and Caffe Luna enough for the amazing experience we had, and will definitely back soon for more delicious food now associated with wonderful memories :). We would highly recommend Caffe Luna to anyone in search of delicious food and great service in Raleigh. Thank you so much!

Caffe Luna has been a favorite for many years. It has remained so through the ownership and management change. The food is always great, the service is friendly - and the prices are amazingly reasonable! The only downside to the place at all is that it is always a bit loud in there...

Since my son doesn't graduate until 8pm, we decided to come downtown to eat beforehand. Probably sixish years ago my husband had a work Christmas party at Caffe Luna and it was fantastic. Since it's close to the convention center, we decided to make that our graduation night dinner. Big.Mistake. We sat down and within the first five minutes: they don't have sweet tea, they don't have butter, they don't have sweet'n low (but of course told me they did when I ordered), they did not have adult spaghetti and meatballs (more on this later), Son #1 had some 💩 floating in his drink, and the bread was rock hard, stale, and tasted like it was sliced and set out a week ago. Not a single one of us were impressed. Three of us got the chicken parm which was just okay. Son #1 ordered two orders of kids spaghetti and meatballs since they didn't have an adult one....and quickly realized that it's only offered in kids meals because kids have no palate 🤣 He will quite literally eat anything and he barely touched it. He said spaghetti and meatballs out of a can would have been better. We joked he could use all that grease/oil on his spaghetti to make the bread half-way soft 🤣 Anyway, while we did have some laughs because of what a terrible choice this was, I am disappointed it was supposed to be a celebratory dinner and turned out to be a big fail. 😩 Save yourself the time, effort, and stomachache and skip this one. 😬

The food is ahmazing. We always end up sharing because we love everything we've gotten so far. Great seafood & pasta options. Best steak I've gotten ever.

Food quality and flavor has really gone down. Very disappointed in my meal. All of our waters had particulates floating in it. Hopefully not slime mold from the ice machine but kind of resembled it.

Dinner before a symphony concert, and the food was outstanding as was the service. Talked to two other couples at the concert who had been to the same restaurant and they had the same experience. This is one of Raleigh‘s best for all age groups.

We had dinner at Caffe Luna for our wedding anniversary. The food is always delicious! And the service is always outstanding.
