Lack of stars was for lack of salad in the items labeled 'salad' and lack of salad items. The most promising veg salad while it did have a little veg, was mostly rice, fried crust and some black bean. If this place had a big salad , such as one full with leafy greans, rating would be better. Rest of menu full of yummy and fairly generous portions. Some folks wanted bit more flavor and/or spice. I didn't get a drink but companions were pleased with theirs. Staff were plentiful, skilled and responsive.

We got seated quickly, the staff was very kind, and our food came out quickly as well. But everything was so bland. I had their birria tacos and there was zero seasoning. Zero. Just plain shredded meat and cheese. Even the dipping soup needed more flavor. I had to load up each taco with an embarrassing amount of onions and cilantro just to be able to somewhat enjoy it. My husbands burrito was okay, but still pretty bland. I will say that there was a lot of meat in the tacos and burritos though. They definitely tried to make it great, but everything needed so much more flavor. I also wasn't a huge fan of the ambiance. It was someone's birthday and they came to sing their song (which is totally fine), but started chanting for shots, and there's suggestive paintings of women with calavera painting on their faces and wearing masks, which is a really weird vibe. Maybe that's your scene, but not really my taste.

One of the better of many Tex-Mex restaurants in the Raleigh area. Service was excellent, meaning that the wait staff take your orders accurately and deliver food and drink quickly. The food is tasty and the portions are generous. I wish there were a few more choices on the menu. My wife and I plan on going back.

Food was decent. Typical Mexican food, but it was pricey for what was served. Drinks were astronomically expensive. Bartender couldn't speak English and had no idea what we ordered then overcharged by 1000%. Wasn't impressed.

First, it is a beautifully decorated restaurant. The service was great, very attentive and responsive. The mixed drinks were tasty and not watered down....but the food! My goodness! The salsa and chips was the best I've ever had. Everything was fresh and came out quickly. I had the birria, very good. Can't wait to go back!Kid-friendliness: We had small children in our party so the kids menu had great options, and the potion sizes were hearty. The kids menu had crayons and activities.

I have eaten at this place since the New owner took over. Have bragged about this restaurant to everyone. The reason for my one star is we ordered 40 dollars worth of food today and we ordered tacos . I go to pick up my order and asked for sour cream as we put sour cream on our tacos . I was told it was 2.00 I didn’t ask for extra sour cream just sour cream. I told the manager we eat there all the time and have never been charged for sour cream. His response this is a business. Well sir you don’t have to worry you will not get anymore of my business

Carajillo's Mexican Kitchen is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever eaten at. It's beautifully decorated with lots of comfy seating. The menu is comprehensive and has everything you might expect and more. The House Margarita is not only large and tasty, its presentation is unique and well done. In addition to two large pieces of fruit there is a decorative flower and even a small rubber ducky floating on a slice of lime. One is enough, maybe you might need a designated driver as there is no stinging on the tequila. Negro Modelo is available both in bottles and by the glass, they even have Dr. Pepper. The appetizer menu is large and includes the best queso, and table side guacamole you'll ever get outside the state of Texas. The complimentary chips are crispy and red sauce isn't too hot. For entrees with had the Mar y Tierra (grilled rib eye chunks and shrimp) and the Burrito Carajillo's (a giant burrito big enough to share with lots of different fillings including rib eye. The included refried beans and Mexican rice are perfectly seasoned and cooked. Our vegetarian friend was well please with her dinner from a comprehensive vegetarian menu. They serve burgers and several other options for those who won't eat Mexican. They have a taco menu, quesadilla menu, street food menu, fish speciality menu, soup and salads, and a comprehensive family dinner menu to eat in or of course available for take out. Our server was very attentive and did not intrude on our enjoying the meal. The chips and soft drink were refilled before they ran out. It was an unexpectedly fine dining experience. We will return many more times as there are so many more dishes we want to sample. I told them there weren't enough stars to rate them properly. 5 is totally insufficient, if there were 10 available I'd give them 11!
